BMW Y Cable. ANDROID USB adapter.....
Okay.... So I recently switched from apple to android and now can't use the Y cable in my BMW for music -.- I found on ebay some adapter to connect my android to the Y cable but there's the ADAPTER between.
So... (Car > Y Cable (30 Pin) into > Adapter into > my phone) So will this transfer the music from my phone to the iDrive? If anyone has tried this and works please let me know so I can buy it ASAP and have my tunes back into my car haha. I know I can always get a AUX but it's not the same when its not on iDrive!!! THANKS AND ALL COMMENTS APPRIECIATED!

I'll start by saying that I don't know the limitations when one lacks specific "options". That being said, I don't need a Y cable. Just plug my iPod or iPhone into the arm rest USB port and it plays via the idrive controller just like FM, AM, etc. Unsure for android but wanted to throw out what I think I know due to lack of other responses for you. Good luck!
As I understand it, the only way to transfer music to the hard drive is through the glove box USB port, typically from a flash drive. The only other use for that particular port is downloading/uploading driver profiles as I understand it. |

Yes just usb to armrest and set phone to USB storage mode.. this will only stream music..
the only way to copy music to the HD is a USB stick via the USB in the glovebox.
