BMW app not working

Hi so bought a 2017 bmw 335d over the weekend and got told I could use an app by typing my cars vin number in but the app just keeps saying please try again later, any reason why ?

For me the app is working, but it was acting a bit dodgy today (slow and not updating lock status properly). You may want to try again tomorrow.
If it doesn't work then, try get in touch with customer support.

It depends which network your car is on. BMW shut off the old one (2g?) so only the newer vehicles still have access. I'm not sure where the cutoff is, but you can search and find how to determine which network your car is on.

You can go through the process of updating the cars sim to the newer network capable one, but from what i've seen it is a very complex process and not really worth it as imo the app doesn't give you too many useful features.

His 2017 should be past the 3G shutoff. And he hasn’t even gotten to entering his VIN yet.

I suspect it might just be a temporary glitch on the BMW backend - they just updated the My BMW app again (to v4.3.2 iOS) this morning…
