Was your trade under-valued before, or properly valued?

So since they sweetened by $2500, did you "bite"?

If not - don't hesitate to show more apprehension over the price versus competition.

Or that you really don't need another car right now...

Next 24 hours is probably the best "buyers" market of the year when it comes to buying a new car.

I didn't bite. The Cayenne I had on order will be ready in a few days and I will just trade it for that, leaving us with 2 vehicles. I will wait for the M4 instead.

What was your total money out of pocket? MSD of 4,550 plus I'm assuming like over 4k taxes, fees, etc). So like over 8k...of course with MSD being refundable.

I realize you've probably already closed this deal, but just fyi for the future - this would be a situation where it would be a worthwhile idea to make a small down payment to get the monthly payment under $600 thus bringing your MSDs to $600 each for a total of $4,200.

Wow, you are very right and that's a brilliant/smart strategy . Thank you for the advise. My build apparently is scheduled to begin in week #4 (January 20-24); therefore, I'm going to talk to my CA to see if I can drop a small amount of money down toward the lease.

This is a good idea -- keep in mind though, that at least here in CA, you get taxed on cap reduction (down payment). Just something to keep in mind when balancing the reduction of security deposits upfront, taxes, and the risk of losing any down payment if the car is totaled. (so, say a $503 payment might be worth putting money down to reduce the deposits to $500, but on not a $547 payment).

EDIT: aaaand nevermind for you, since I just saw the $602 figure

Probably the only time it'd ever been a smart move to put money down on a lease.

OP - so out of pocket was either 0 or 4k security deposits? Sorry if I misunderstood...

I believe hes doing 0 down and yes, 7 MSD's to lower CAP cost. The 4550 he will get back at the end of the lease term vs. putting down 4550 as a down payment that he will lose. Hes taking full advantage of playing with the money factor to lower payments vs putting money down and net getting anything back at the end of the lease. Its not the same math per 1000 down but its nice to lower payment and get something back. Consider it a savings account

Here is a good example....im up playing with a car build now so here goes

lets say you have a payment of 490. Your sec dep would be 500. Do 2 of those so lets say you put up a 1000 sec dep. That lowers the MF .00007 - .00007. That saves you like 12 bucks. Now if you put a down payment of 1000 you lower your payment more, like 30ish a month but the difference is you dont get any money back at lease end. Nifty trick, thanks to our BMW friends here ive learned quite alot!

Hope that helps. (all based on a 36mon lease ive been playing with!)

I agree....seems to good to be true but its legit. The down side is you tie up 500 (or whatever your payment is) x how ever many SDs you want to put down for the length of the lease. If you have a 1k or 2k that you planned on putting down though, id recommend doing the MSD. You save less per month than if you put the 1k or 2k as a DP, but you actually get the $s back in the end. so as a % you save overall if you did the math over the term of the lease. Im probably going to find the balance between what a comfortable monthly payment is and how much I want to lend BMW for a few years. I dont think im going to five them 4500 bucks, but maybe 2/3 security deposits is my speed. Strongly considering ordering a 428i xdrive this month. Wondering if incentives will increase or MF will change etc.....kind of a gamble. But if I order, and the deals get better I think I can take advantage of the new deals.

If you can afford it, I'd put 7 MSDs down. For me, I put all 7 down (3500 dollars), and I'm saving 1200 during the term of the lease. Where else are you going to "make" 1200 risk free / tax free in 3 years on only 3500 dollars? I basically thought of it like a CD that I can't touch for 3 years.

Is this a good deal on a 435i M Sport? Newbie needing help plz

Hi guys, I'm a first time car buyer in the U.S., I did as much research as I could before going shopping for a fully loaded 435i M Sport.

This is where I stand now:

-MSRP: $62600
-Final negotiated price: $58420
-36mo/12k miles
-$5000 deposit which includes all the fees (acquisition...etc) and first month's lease
-$650/mo + tax

Is this a fair deal or should I be negotiating any further? I mean if I am only off by 10 or 20$, that's not so bad, but if the price is overly unfair, that would be a problem.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks so much!
