A very interesting thread. That said, I am feeling VERY old all of a sudden. In fact, based on the responses, I am likely the oldest person in the world that is on this board.

Started my own business at 15 - sweeping a mini-mall parking lot three times a week before school. Spent 4 years in the Navy (Intelligence - which shows how lax their selection process is LOL), became a mechanical designer for a very well know company, worked in time and motion, process engineering, etc. and eventually ended up in the labor relations field. Retired (early) 17 years ago and haven't looked back.

Nah, you're just more wiser than all of us, and I like to ask for life advice as those people tend to see almost everything in their lifetime.

24 years old here; I've had my F30 for just over a year, and still surprised that I got myself into a brand new BMW so early, but I couldn't be any prouder!

Currently working as a title clerk at my local credit union. Wendy's was my first job, followed by 7-Eleven (formerly Speedy Stop), leading to my previous job with IBC Bank.

Took a break from school but looking to go back soon, and in the meantime, trying to settle into a new job with either BMW or Apple.

Don't count on it.. Mechanical Engineer (Systems and Controls). Loved it, started my own company, worked all over the world, including a stint in the Military overseas to payback my University from Military College. Should be retired, but don't like lawn bowling too much, so still cherry pick interesting projects that matter. Three Score and ten years. The old man, still going.

Actually, you have a good point about asking "older" people for advice because of their "life experience." One thing to remember, always keep in mind what General Eisenhower said, "I learned more from bad Generals than I learned from good ones." Like the internet, not all advice you get is the best (except mine, of course).

Also one of the coolest guys here. If you've still got enough fire in you to drive a Bimmer 3 series after retirement, then all the love to you man. Hope I will have it also. My dad still tracks his Porsches, which are what I get to track and he's almost 70.

I'm 39 PhD working in Finance/investments for a large private brokerage as an Organizational Development Director. (Analyze, and audit corps to establish investment ratings.
