Anyone have Cyba's tips?

I am thinking about getting these but have a few questions:

Can the inner muffler pipe edge be seen with these tips? The OEM slip on tips have a a lip at the ends that conceal the muffler pipe.

Do the vertical stop pins have to be removed from the muffler pipe? These are the 2 pins on either side that keep the tips from moving too far back.

Any picks looking straight on would be greatly appreciated.

He doesn't make any that fit the F30 328, I've talked to him about producing some but no dice

Yes but I was referring to the 335/435.

Oh you've got a x35 as well? Or are you switching out your exhaust?

Yup, switching exhaust. Already have a pristine 335i exhaust sitting in my living room (LOL). Took off the stock tips this morning and was about to purchase the Cyba tips but these questions popped in my head.

tboooe -- the Cyba tips that I have do not conceal the edge of the pipe. I've never found that to be noticeable from more than a couple of feet away. The car had about 500 miles on it in the picture...the edge of the pipe is probably even less obvious now.

The Cyba tips have a slot similar to the OEM tips so the pins on the pipe don't have to be removed. He uses a clamp to hold the tips in place unlike the OEM tips.

THANK YOU! Maybe I will paint the muffler pipe matte black to conceal it more.

One question, does the Cyba tip slip as far back as the OEM one? I am not a fan of the exhaust tips sticking out.

IIRC, I matched the projection of the OEM tip and I'm pretty sure there was at least a little space left to slide in further. I'll take a look at it in the morning and let you know how much is left.

Edit: Doh, on second thought, if you get a similar design, as the thing slides in much further, you'll quickly see the smaller exposed edge of the pipe inside the relatively larger taper of the tip..that would not be pretty.

Unless you trim back the OEM pipe 1/2 - 3/4 of an inch?

Yup, that's what I plan to do. Trim back the pipe and potentially move back the locating pin. Actually I plan to cut back the pipe as far back as possible. Since the Cyba tips use a collar to secure the tips in place instead of springs there is no need for all the extra pipe beyond the collar. Once I get the Cyba tips I will figure out how much I can cut.

Will do. There is no downside to having more of the inner surface of the Cyba tip exposed to the exhaust fumes right? I know that's a nutty question but I was just wondering if the muffler pipe provides some sort of protection from heat or corrosion for the exhaust tip? The only downside I see is the inside of the exhaust tip will turn black where the oem muffler tip does not cover.

I'd ask Cyba to see what coating is on the inside
If it could be an issue, spray some high temp black paint on the inside

Not a bad idea regardless. That way the inside will have a nice even finish instead of looking all crappy and inconsistent due the exhaust fumes soot. I can paint the oem pipe too which will help to further conceal it inside the Cyba tip.

That sounds like a plan. FWIW, there's about 3/4" of room for mine to slide further back before running into the pin.

Unless the design has changed in the last year, the entire tip has the same finish inside and out. Check out msg# 54: http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...=927430&page=3

they will stick out further than stock. I didn't like the look and did as you have noted. I cut about an inch off the stock pipes and also drilled the slots on the tips a bit deeper to get them to slide on further. Once I clean the car up i'll post some pics here or in the other thread. It looks much better now (IMO).

Good to know. Instead of drilling the slot I'm going to just cut the locating pin and then re-weld further back.

Just thought I would update this thread now that I have the Cyba tips. The pics below show the tips pushed all the back against the locating pin. In this position, the Cyba tips stick out more than the stick tips by 1/2" but the biggest issue is the muffler pipe is clearly visible inside the tip. My plan is to re-locate the pin back further by 1" and cut the muffler pipe right at the locating pin. There is still plenty of pipe remaining for the Cyba tips to fit on and clamp to so the muffler pipe in front of the pin is not needed at all. The length of the slot in the Cyba tip is 3.5" which will be plenty of pipe.

Sounds like a good plan! If you could post pics of the process at the muffler shop that would be great!
