How to GLOSSIFY M Perf Front Lip???

Hey guys,

I plan on buying the M perf from splitter/lip and I want to make it glossy instead of the unpainted black. What is the best way of going about this?

THANKS

wrapping it with a protective coating like clear bra would probably do the trick

have you thought about bringing it to the painter? they may be able to "glossify" it. You could look to do something different too like BSM or Carbon metallic to change it up some.

Clear coat spray cans are generally matte too, unless it's done professionally.

OP, I would suggest using vinyl wrap. If that's too much work, then just buy a can of plasti dip glossifier from your local auto parts store. Most people think my wheels are powdercoated until they touch it and feel the dip.

Totally agree with the vinyl wrap. Tried to save money by gloss black painting and taking it to a local bmw small scratch fixer to clear coat it. Looked good for a week before it looked like crap after some rock chips and clear coat bubbled

So the plasti dip glossifier would work straight on the matte lip? No need to spray with a base layer of black plastic dip or anything correct?

I'd imagine you would have to apply the glossifier like its the first coat of dip. A 50% coverage first coat, followed by 80%, and then a heavy 3rd to 5th coat depending how well you evenly cover the surface.

Does anyone know approximately how much it would cost to get it professionally painted?

I paid 450 to have mine painted in Estoril Blue II on the top pieces with Gloss black lower splitter piece, but that also included the rear Diffuser painted Gloss black as well. The gloss matches the M Performance Grills perfectly.

Just pay to get it painted and stop being cheap.

I would hope a late model BMW owner could spare a few hundred for paint...

Get a less expensive car.

I am too. Live within your means.

Dang, we went from glossifying his lip to him getting a new car haha

OP, I wrapped my lip with CF vinyl. Not too difficult but I wanted to try out some cheap vinyl from eBay (terrible decision) and that stuff was complete crap. Impossible to heat up and mold to the lip and tore when stretching (hence the patch haha). I ended up removing it but I would like to get some 3M CF wrap and do it again.

I've also previously plasti dipped with black and glossifier. The finish came out decent but I ended up peeling it off for the CF wrap. Ignore the side plate. That's long gone haha

Can't stand people with this POV. There's a difference between being frugal/living within your means and being cheap. Being cheap is having the money available but not spending it. Being frugal is using your available funds wisely. This is what the OP is doing, and it should be applauded. Most college students aren't that smart.

I am thinking of doing the same thing. I am probably going to have it cleared and then wrapped in a 3M paint protection film to protect it from chips.
