track day tires recommendation.
hi guys,
I'm taking my car to track next week and I'd like to put on tire that's good for this mid-speed track with many turns and only 700m of longest straight. Not looking to put on slick tires because I'm driving 4 hours to the track. Any recommendations for the r compound tires or tires that suit my need? My car is 2014 435i convertible by the way. Thanks. |

I've seen some good deals on the Bridgestone RE-11. They would be good on the track because they are sticky. You couldn't go wrong with pilot super sports.
If you are just looking for tires to tear up I would go Continental extreme contact DW or something similar. All these tires will work. For what it's worth, BMW use the continental's I mentioned at the performance centers on all cars including the M3s and they are more than enough if you just want to have fun

PSS are fine if you want a trackable performance tire but dont plan on becoming a track rat and getting a dedicated set of wheels/tires. Id also consider Dunlop Direzzas. If this is your first time at the track stik to a tire like that, you dont need more tire, you wont be pushing the car that hard.

If you're a novice, PSS is more than enough tire for the track. The advanced groups start running Dunlops Direzzas or Bridgestone RE-71R tires. The Michelin Pilot Sport Cup is a nice tire but expensive. |

The Michelin PSS will be okay for mild track days. But they will heat cycle quickly. The Bridgestone RE-71R or RE-11 would be better options. I would also consider the Hankook RS-3, Dunlop Direzza ZII Star Spec and BF Goodrich Rival. Feel free to email me directly if I can help further. |
