Has anyone used the wifi Carly device to perform coding?

I have one, don't really like it compared to Esys and a cable. Sure there's more setup involved, but you get a LOT more control. Carly also doesn't have nearly all the available codings that are in the various PDFs floating around.

I have Carly and have coded with it and been pretty happy. After a dealer software update I had to wait a few weeks for Carly to update their software. Recently after another dealer software update I was able to code five modules immediately. Two previously Esys features that I lost and have not been able to recode include weather radio activation and unlock on ignition off. I have requested Carly to add these but they have not done so yet.

Yes indeed I have and still do. I've used it on my last BMW and my current F30. For some insights see: http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...&postcount=604

It's actually a Bluetooth device, not wifi. The BT adapter and app work well - simpler interface - but it is not as comprehensive as E-Sys. Carly has a lot of other functions beyond simple coding, though, particularly code-reading and clearing.

I have one and it works fine. I wish it had a few more features like being able to default to sport mode, but otherwise I've been happy with it.

Updated app available a few days ago. Now supports NBT idrive, disable ASD and exhaust valve control.

You cannot code "default to sport mode", even with E-Sys. It's been discussed in previous posts.

Sorry, didn't mean to imply you could do it with e-sys. Was just ranting that I want that to happen some day.

I just ran out to check and was disappointed you can't permanently set the exhaust flap. Was neat to play with though.

Yeah kind of a pain obviously you'd need to leave the obd reader in place all the time

Carly for BMW Pro and Exhaust Valve Control

Just received the latest version of Carly for BMW Pro (v24.10). To get such updates to work properly, I have found that we need to UNINSTALL and then REINSTALL the app. This new version 24.10 has exhaust valve control for F30 models and others with exhaust valve control. After watching Graham's 440i on the road, both Simon and I could see that in COMFORT MODE the left pipe valve is closed untill he really plants his foot on the accelerator.

My car (like all of them) starts in COMFORT MODE by default, and at this point the valve is closed:

As far as I can see, in SPORT and SPORT+ MODES, the valve opens when the engine/exhaust is warm. However, Carly now allows one to open the valve at any time in ANY mode. I opened it in COMFORT MODE and got the deep throaty growl on the fly. Moreover, I turned the engine off .... shut down Carly .... and the valve remained open as the photo shows.

The exhaust valve was still open next morning, and as soon as I started the car it closed. Thus, Carly needs to be active for the valve to stay open.

I did some resarch into this and it does not keep the valve open permanently - you have to use the new version each time you want to open the exhaust flap after the engine is shut off/cooled down.

I'm using Android and I didn't have to uninstall/reinstall this latest version.

Good to know. I too can confirm the valve was open next morning, but closed as soon as I started the car with Carly OFF.

I too am using Android (6.0.1 on a Nexus tablet). I was told the uninstall/reinstall by Carly support when an earlier version wouldn't play ball with an E82 I was working on. All good now.

Hi, sorry if this has been addressed already, but I'm trying to figure out if it's possible to close the MPPSK exhaust valve in sport mode and yet retain the additional power that comes with the MPPSK ECU flash (2016 340ix 6MT). I want the power, just want the option to keep it quieter sometimes. Will Carly allow this?
