SNAP in phone adapter

Anyone got one of these for their F30 ?
What does it actually do over simply connecting via USB ?

I gather it connects to external antenna, but anything else useful and worth £150 ish

Connects to external antenna for improved reception. Not sure if you get any additional functionality in iDrive etc. And I guess it tucks the phone neatly away. Apart from that, I can't think of any added benefit of having it. Also, don't forget, it won't work if you've got a case on your phone.

I've got that - was lucky enough to have the garage spec it as it was the sales manager car.

Had car over 2 years now really just working out what all the options actually do. Should have investigated before really.

anyway hoping this will re-generate a bit if interest in it and stop me looking around to change.

There isn't just one adaptor, there are usually two - a basic one, and a multimedia one. The basic being purely phone charging and antennae connection, and the second being for more complete interaction with music etc. I think it's extended blue tooth that's required for this one. There is a pretty staggering price difference between the 2, also, but these price can be negotiated if pushed.

I have an iPhone 4 which I keep in a multimedia dock in the armrest and I use this solely for music. it keeps it charged.

I don't bother with a dock for my iPhone 6

Garage List
This has gone around before and the consensus was that the money could be best spent elsewhere. It certainly is not a must have BMW gadget and the benefit is negligible. I'm sure there will be a few who think it is marvellous. The media adaptor price would get you two sets of car mats.

LOL I've just bought my 3rd set of car mats too. Some m performance ones to compliment the genuine BMW rubber ones I use over winter.

It would be media adaptor I was after, but will consider carefully before splashing cash.
Cheers

So today I fitted the one I bought off here and am leaving the I phone 4 permanently in car (just bought a pay as you go SIM).
So 32GB of music etc. and a permanent phone too

One advantage of the adaptor is the ability to play the videos stored on phone.

Worth the £25 I paid but would struggle to justify the new price of £160.

Safety, security and peace of mind are the prime reasons for the use of the adaptor, all else is a bonus.
