Rust stain on intact paint surface

I notices some rust spots on my car roof during a car wash today. At first, I thought maybe it is b/c I haven't washed my car for a month and the salt in the snow seasons have caused the surface to rust. But the paint feels intact to touch, so the rust is unlikely coming from the metal underneath.

Later on when I returned to my apartment garage I notice there is a pipe running across the ceiling, right above my parking lot, and it happens to have a rusted surface.

It is very likely the water containing rust dipped onto my car roof and dried out. The question is what's the best way to remove without damaging paint? I tried to scrape with a microfiber cloth and soap, but it had little effect.

Many thanks!

Try a clay bar and detail spray. Has worked for me in the past!

That, and finding a different parking place. A paint sealant would probably help too.

+1 for Iron X
Good to have around and use in the spring anyway.

Iron X and clay bar are both methods of decontamination. One is chemical (Iron X) and the other is mechanical (clay bar) method of decontamination. When I detail my car, I do both.

Rub it in random circular motions with a damp rag and Colgate white toothpaste.

Will be gone in seconds.

Can it be cleaned off with just a proper hand wash and clay bar? Amazon sells it for a high price here in Canada and I don't know anyone who locally sells it.
