Turn the light knob one click the right, off straight up and down (off). Just remember to turn the lights off when you leave the car!

That's headlight mode, not DRL.

The tail lights on for DRL can be coded. Check out the coding thread. I've considered coding it feature, but I have not tried it yet.

That should be "parking light" mode, and should give the intended results. Maybe it's one more click to the right, I forget.

I know about parking light mode but I hate that the turn signals also turn on...is there a way to disable the parking light bulb so that it will only go on when I use my turn signal? is there a bulb I can use? On my Honda Accord I use electrical tape to cover the one of the contact points on the parking light bulb (Dual filament bulb 1156) so that the parking light only works when the turn signal is on.

Without coding or rewiring there isn't a way to do this that I'm aware of. It's like this on every car I've driven.
