When I adjusted mine last night I noticed that as well. The inside adjustment is what adjusted the height.

So I tried no cant see to shift the height.

Do I turn clockwise or CCW ?
Did you use a Phillips or Flat head?
It's a tight angle to get in there...

Clockwise to raise - one turn is quite noticeable. I just used a flat head screwdriver about 6" long (excluding the handle).

Guys,
Just look at this video (Factory's F30 assembly line): About in the middle, (from 1:30 to 1:55) the video shows the factory technician adjusting/aligning the lights. Here is the link:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=HCbWSuuq1FA

Notice she's using a couple of electric drivers and the help of a computer laser guide... quite informative in my opinion. Also looks like she's using the same spots as indicated by TonyS. Additionally you can see the exact spot (screw) to adjust also the fog lights.

BTW the assembly of the front of the car in the video is just looking exactly as mine (Alpine white, Sport line, xenons).....
This week I drove my car to the dealer and they took care of the headlights (so no guessing with the screws in my case). The improvement is evident.

I can't get the black cap off the knob on the passenger side, not helped by the fact that it's in a super awkward location. Any tricks to doing it? I can't get good leverage with a screwdriver

Bumping this up, dealer said with lighting package/Xenons I have to get reprogrammed? My lights look a bit low, and I was hoping the adjustments in this thread would be the only fix...a reprogram for 10mm change (M performance suspension) sounds kinda nuts?

Guys I just adjusted mine, super easy. I see no need to remove the plastic cap, mine has a Phillips socket in the top and rotating that with a screwdriver adjusts height.

Screwdriver length needed

That's not the cap everyone's talking about. It's the black colored one and only one of the two has it.

Ok so the other cap that has to be removed must be for horizontal adjustment

After reading this thread I have no idea which one to adjust. Are 4 series headlights different?

I think some of the confusion comes from horizontal vs. vertical adjustment. First of all who gives a shit about adjusting lights left to right? Second, just tell me what I need to do to move the lights up...THAT'S IT.

I think problem is people are adjusting horizontal thinking it's vertical...
Original poster is wrong unless bmw changed something. But I just tried it and munch520 is correct. His pics show the correct holes.

Try both small step at a time. Quarter turn is very noticeable. On my F30, the inner holes are for vertical aim.
