In the UK you can get a 435i M sport Gran Coupe in Tanzantite Blue and Individual Brown Merino Leather and Piano Black trim, IN MANUAL TRANSMISSION. Pretty much my dream color combo at this point. It's the reincarnation of that e46 330ci I could not afford back in the day.
Anyway, here's a very well deserved F you to BMW of North America. . Last edited by Falafel Combo; 04-12-2014 at 07:23 AM.. |

I predict that within 5 years or so, you'll be hard-pressed to buy any BMW in the USA with a manual transmission. The take rate keeps going down as the automatics/DCT's get better and the younger customers can afford to buy/lease BMW's.
It comes down to the requirements our government places on manufacturers for each drivetrain configuration they sell here. BMW reaches a tipping point for each model when the cost of meeting these requirements exceeds the potential profit made from the sales of manual-equipped cars. It's too bad, as I for one enjoy driving manual-equipped cars. I've never owned a car with an automatic, other than those for my wife/kids. It's also great theft protection, as more and more potential car thieves will pass up a manual car, as they don't know how to drive one.

If you want a MT from BMW in the future, it's likely going to be in a MINI. |

It's included in the website price. Also, the prices quoted on the website are not what you have to pay. 3 Series can be had for 15 to 20% below those prices depending on how hard you haggle. 4 Series would probably be less discount at the moment as it's still very new.

BMW, please please PLEASE give us some of those options! Manual and Merino leather are two must haves (ok, anything but Dakota) and the Tanzanite would be so nice. Yes, I will pay for them. Please.

Lets hope when that time shows up, they have put me in a pine box & lowered my down 8ft. Let those left behind suffer those pains.
