Clock keeps losing time

Hi All,

This is my first post here and I hope I'm not creating a new thread for a topic that already exists.
Anyway I drive a F34 318d (M Pack) and since I've had it (March '17), I've noticed that I've had to correct the time on the onboard clock numerous times as it's always losing time.

Has anyone else experienced this? How did you resolve it? Can it be resolved?

Appreciate the feedback and any point in the right direction.

Hi there,

I have never had any issues with my clock, I guess it has to be a battery issue.

Could you describe your driving habits? for example do you drive much with eco-mode or whats your usual mileage in a month? What's the production year of your car?

Do you have the automatic time settings turned on in the options menu?

I had this issue in my E90 awhile back. It was the battery, when it’s ready to be replaced it doesn’t have enough juice to keep memory settings of th car.

I had an issue with my 2013 F34 where the central screen and the speedo clocks were not in sync - it was the central screen was loosing time... This was back in 2014/15 and the dealer uploaded new software under warranty. That update fixed the clocks but after the update the automatic change of time at different times of the year or when going to the continent never really worked again... not easy to reproduce and not mission critical so just living with it...

I doubt it's the battery. Digital clocks don't slow down when the voltage goes down.

You can fix that with coding.

Mine seems to get a bit off as well. Unless it's updating somehow even something digital is not perfect. You have a crystal oscillating for timing, but the car can be at widely varying temps which can affect things and even a regulated input voltage can vary slightly. Electronics are not quite as perfect as some think.

Please tell me exactly how to do this. My F34 keeps losing about 2 minutes each month.

This is not a battery issue. This seems to be a common issue to E90 and F30. My F34 keeps losing around 2 minutes per month.

My '18 gets the time from GPS satellites. I thought this was common?
