This reminds me of a story from the early '60's. Some good friends of my folks bought a brand new Mercury Comet, black in color. They had only had it a few days when they stopped at the local super market. Husband went in while wife waited in the new car.

Well, some inconsiderate bimbo parked alongside and promptly banged his door into their nice, new car. The lady rolled down her window and scolded the guy with something like, "Hey, be careful!" The idiot responded, "So what! Your car will get dinged anyway!" and walked off to the market.

Well, our 60-something lady got out of her car, reached into her purse for her keys, and then keyed the idiot's car from front to back, on both sides. I mean, she really did a job on it.

She was also the same lady who returned dog shit to the owner's front porch in their mobile home park... after she collected a box full.

She was a redhead, BTW.

The BMW driver is definitely an asshat and a half, but honestly, the truck drivers is an equal douche. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes on both accounts.

I would understand if the parking lot was completely full. But if it is mostly empty, and the car was on its own away from other cars, the truck driver had no reason to do this. I don't double park, but I do like to park far away from other vehicles, and quite often I find (ironically enough) pickups that will park next to my car. It has to be on purpose, because I would usually be way out of the way of other cars, with nothing else around me.

I usually just check my car for damage, and snap a pic of the license plates etc. But the thought of smashing the shit out of their car has crossed my mind, I just would never do it. I wouldn't obviously get mad if the parking lot was full, that's to be expected. But a completely empty area, and you park right up next to my car?

I would disagree. The problem is taking two parking spots can give the impression of entitlement. It doesn't matter that the parking lot is nearly empty and the spots he chose are at one of the extreme ends. Who does he think he is, that he should take up two spots?

It's irritating to me when I see someone take two spots in an obvious attempt to prevent others from parking too close. I would never do anything about it personally, but OTOH, I would not feel the least bit sorry if the guy got his car keyed, or received a nasty note under the wiper blade, BECAUSE of the arrogant way that he parked. Ironically, he's attracting exactly the attention he wanted to avoid.

Your same reasoning I apply to the truck driver. The arrogance of trying to teach a lesson of some sort to a guy taking up two spots in an EMPTY damn parking lot got EXACLTY what he deserved.

people take 2 spots all over, who cares, yes someone may park close to you like the truck. Who knows why the truck parked like that, maybe he was in a rush, maybe he thought there was enough space, maybe he wanted to be a dick.

Taking a bat to someones property because they inconvenienced you? Honestly you deserve to be charged and go get some serious mental health help.

I was half expecting the truck driver to find him and beat the living sh*t ... out of the bmw.

In my last shed - particularly if there was no other places - I would park next to him that close.

In some car parks in the UK you would be given a handy fine for that!

Both are assholes. I'd say the truck driver is a larger ass if it was a completely empty parking lot - he was looking for trouble.

One time, I parked normally in a space one in a empty parking lot. I came back to see a truck parked inches away from my driver door. It was so close I couldn't even open the door. I had to crawl in from the passenger side. We were the only two cars in the whole lot! I parked normally in my space!

I really felt like leaving some love marks on his car for being an asshole but I just left it be as there was no damage to my car.

To this day I have a hatred of inconsiderate assholes in big trucks.

I have a truck 22ft long and still manage to only use one parking space. Towing a trailer? no problem, Ill take two spaces end to end. I won't take 4-6 spaces parking 40 ft of truck and trailer.

Makes me wanna beat down anyone parking in more spaces than they need to.

This is pretty much the only way to look at it. Its arsewipes like this that give us such a bad stereotypes. Clearly the truck guy picked a fight here but two wrongs do not make a right. Its not even an isolated incident. I go to a Wholefoods near where I live once in a while and invariably, most of the cars parked on the sides of the access lanes in the parking lots next to curbs that clearly say "No Parking" on them are BMWs, mostly base 3 and X1/3 series cars. There's usually more than enough empty spots but these lowlifes park in the access lanes (sometimes on both sides blocking them) because their precious little selves couldn't be arsed to walk a little more. If I wasn't convinced it was the wrong thing to do, I'd have dropped a few sharp screws under their tires and watched the fun.
