2016 340i cranks for a very long time on cold start

Hello guys! im posting today to try and find an answer to my troubles..

My 2016 340i is having very long cranking before starting somtimes even having todo the cycle of starting twice. The car is modified with a HPFP and full e85 and has been retuned 2 times since the issue has occured. After the car starts the fuel rail pressure its normal and if i turn the car off and on again it start rights up. also the outside temp is 50 degrees F. and the HPFI isnt even a year old.

Can't provide much help, but when my '07 530i was leaking fuel from the fuel hose connection, it also resulted in very long cranks until I replaced the hose.

So it could definitely be fueling related.

You have something bleeding off your fuel pressure. I had similar symptoms on a N55 powered X3 and it turned out to be a leaking injector. No codes, normal power. Found it by pulling plugs and inspecting each cylinder and plugs for signs of wet fueling. It was blantanly obvious when I got to cylinder 4 as the plug was soaked. Change it and calibrated the new injector offset with ISTA and all is well. Suggest checking why you are losing pressure.

How cold is your cold start...? Full E85 has difficult cold starts.

Could also be the fuel tank purge valve. No CEL on with the long crank could be a sign it is going to fail soon.
