Just ordered my 340xi :D !!! 3 month delay for german build

Hi all, this is my first post for f30post. Former e46fanatic/e90post-er (e46 330xi, e90 325xi). Just ordered my 2017 340xi this morning! 6 speed, mineral grey, saddle brown seats, tech, cwp....needless to say i cant wait

there is a 3 month delay to ensure a german build vs south african. I'll wait because at least the car can avoid a harsh new england winter.

Time to start stockpiling mods.....

Three month delay for a German build? What's causing the delay?

I would bet your dealer didn't have a allocation slot available for a German built car until that time. We recently ordered a 330 sedan and got a German build within one week. But their are less 340 slots available than 330's

You really want to wait an additional 3 months? Man you got patience.. besides South Africa has better quality control in general. That said mine s Munich build knock on wood no problems so far..

When I ordered mine, the dealership didn't have a german build allocation, so they traded another dealership for one on the spot, and got my build confirmed next day.

I ordered my 2017 340i on 9/2 and it's an SA build. It took 3 weeks for my dealership to get me a production number. The car is built now but has been at the port since 10/25 and I have been tracking the ships coming to the Durban port and expect my car won't leave the port until late next week. I don't expect to have the car until late December. Anyway, I'd say my total build time will be very close to 4 months. Hope this helps. Good luck. I can't wait to get mine here either.

I def dont want to wait but this is my first new car and itll cost me a small fortune. I'd have more peace of mind over the next decade knowing it was a german build, even if there is literally no difference. It is supposed to be a german car after all.

I also live in CT and the winters are brutal on a car. This is is my DD so I am somewhat relieved i get the car once spring arrives and i can avoid all the snow/ice/salt. Plus I still love my e90, I get a few more months to enjoy it. When life gives you lemons...
