F30 ground screw

Hi All

New to the F30 and i wiring in a nextbase dashcam. I am hard wiring it. I have got it installed and have the wires nicely tucked away and routed to the fusebox but i am unsure of where best to ground the wire.

Best place please?

Thank you

If you want to use ground in this compartment, use one of the combox' screws. That's the box left in your picture.

Thanks for the info. Is this the best place to ground the wire? Or should i be looking for somewhere else.

Just for confirmation you mean the screw circled in the image below?

Yes that is one of the screws I meant. The combox has three, any should suffice. Personally, I'd use another ground connection: one of the ground combs. There are lots of them throughout the car, for example in the fond, passenger side, behind the "cushion" next to the back rest. The fuel pump module is there, too.

Thanks for the info. i will see about locating another one. i am limited by the wire itself as to how far it can reach.

Hi Again!

The dashcam is working but i dont think i have plugged into the correct fuse. I am trying to locate a fuse that is only on when the car is in use. Other times i want the camera to power down.
First i tried 162 which i believe to be the rear power outlet (though i dont know where this is) but the camera powered straight up. Car was not on but was unlocked.
I then moved it to 121 which i think is part of the enteratainment/satnav etc system. Again the dashcam powered straight on. Is this just happening because the car is unlocked?
Which fuse should i be using?

I dont know all the fuses by heart, but there are some distinctions:

Klemme 30: classic non switched battery power, but very rare in our cars
Klemme 30F: direct battery power, but with the option of turning it off in case of failure. From the car's point of view, a cam would be such a failure
Klemme 30B: gets turned off after a few minutes, after the car has been locked
Klemme 15(N): gets turned off after turning off the ignition. The N indicated a delay in shutdown.

I ended up using fuse 121. The camera turns off after about 10 mins when the engine has been turned off. I just had to wait a bit longer.
