I can't seem to understand why my car does not display album art on HD radio but a friend's car with similar option packages does. The only difference is his is a 4 series coupe. Production date is within a few months of each other in 2013. Tried it with the very same radio station so I know the station broadcasts the metadata

Album art capability launched beginning with the 2014 MY in the 3 series. Thus, all 4 series have it. Those cars went into production in July of '13. If your car has the touchpad iDrive controller, That's an easy way to tell too.

I see album art on XM, but not on HD radio. Maybe the radio stations are not broadcasting it? I do see track info though.

Ironically, I get album art on XM radio, but not on FM/HD.

My 3/2013 F30 Build shows Album Art on HD Radio with no issues.

You do not have XM Chips. You have Sirius Chips. Big Difference.
