I can see how this ad could get some people to buy a lexus, however, if you are buying a bmw in the first place, money should not be a great issue, one can always buy something cheaper and it will still take you from point A to B, any new car can do that, you don't need 306hp right? But that doesn't mean everybody will buy a kia. The fact that a woman is telling us to buy a lexus doesn't make much sense to me neither, specially when she's only focusing on the positive points of the car and probably drives a prius.
New design? It looks like something out of a video game and I can only imagine how ridiculous it will look in a couple years once the new models come out.
If lexus was such a great car I wouldn't be driving a bmw.
The fact that they took the time and money to justify buying their product while talking trash about bmw is just sad and desperate.

Consumers like value and price has nothing to do with brand value. If you look at luxury brand values, BMW is MUCH higher than Ferrari and Porsche, which car would your rather own? BMW is making their fleet more and more accessible down market because all they care about is making more money. You should search for an interview with one of the BMW execs where the reporter asked if they are concerned about more BMWs being on the road and how that will hurt the brand's luxury cache. He flat out said he is not concerned and wants to see BMW as a mass producer of premium automobiles. They want to eat into Lexus' market share as much as possible. They don't care about you, just the bottom line.
I don't know how you could read so much into my 1 liner. All I'm saying is that when you present your brand as premium/luxury, like Lexus is doing to differentiate itself from Toyota, then the value is not supposed to be a marketing point. You don't see Louis Vuitton ads about how it's cheaper than Dior, do you? By making value a marketing point (actually the main marketing point in this particular video I should add), Lexus is employing marketing tactics of standard non-premium brands. This is a mistake, as is reflected by their market share in the premium segment.

I have too. Just about every manuf seems to be off on their ratings . I wonder what their +/- tolerance is? Do some make 290 and some 320? Everyone here loves talking about how their car makes more than advertised HP. Is there any reason a manufacturer would do that intentionally? I was in the Porsche factory years ago on my Honeymoon where they tested every engine before it went into a car. Any more than 1% hp + or minus and the engine didnt go in a car.

Dunno, but remember how they understated the 323i's back in the day?

They attempt to say the BMW sucks but the front grill of the Lexus literally looks likes it's been sucking on a giant lemon

Much premium feeling interior (slide temp control, touch activated dome lights, mousepad navigation, ...)? Cornering G sensors, to hold gears longer while cornering? I find the looks un-objectionable. I actually like the new Lexus design language, but prefer the more conventional BMW design if I have to live with it everyday. But again, not a deal breaker. I like the design.

It all comes down to driving dynamics. If Lexus can compete on that, they have a very bright future. Which should not be that hard, as BMW have been conceding a bit much lately, in that department.
I don't like the foofie interiors so in the past I also would never consider Lexus but now that foofie is mandatory with idrive and all that other stuff there is less to separate them. for me also it comes down to driving dynamics but again the new ones are softer, queter and more isolated that again there is less real dynamism separating them. So basically it comes down to manual trans. Lexus doesn't offer it so they don't want my money. BMW still does but when they drop manual, there will be little reason left to not buy the cheaper more reliable Japanese alternative.

Yeah, its easy to call those you dont agree with you close minded

I closed mindedly test drove the RC. You crank the engine, nice sound comes out... You are like holy.. I'm getting this car. Then you step on it... My literal next question from the sales guys: are you guys limiting the engine power for the test drive???

Then comes testing the hyped mark levinson sound... Ok, that name is sexy, but compare that to H/K in f32... dont! its just not there... Do you have surround view? No you dont, and you cant get it. Can you custom build your car? no sorry lexus dont do that, and so on and so forth.

Well, to be honest, I don't want to diss lexus, its a nice car, but even as BMW lost a little bit of chassis and ride character in f3x, it still beats lexus in performance and ride IMO. However, price is a big big advantage for Lexus.
