I went there yesterday to check out what Mercedes is doing. I saw the c63 AMG, GLE (both X6 and X5 competitors). X6 and X5m and the Jaguar 3 series fighter.

C63
Unfortunately people were right the new C class direction has an old man look to it, it lost its youthfulness from the prior generation. I thought the C450 would be a nice option in the future but this new design language works best on the GLE and GLS IMO.

X6/X5M
The X6 is pure sex but the equivalent GLE gives it a good run for its money. Less wheel gap too.

Jaguar 3 series fighter
Disappointing would be my take on this car. It offers nothing new. Although the interior was nice its a cramped interior. There was more room in the S3 than this Jag. The exterior leaves a lot to be desired imo. If you must have something other than BMW or Audi I think the C class would be a far better choice than this car. Maybe it drives very well but let's wait and see.

Did anyone else go?

I went last year and this round of the show was underwhelming as not much is all new this year.

I feel like an ass for not having taken any photos. Once the novelty wears off you stop taking photos I guess. I figured by the time I get home someone wiser would have started a thread about the show with pics but I couldn't find anything even today.

Hopefully someone else did take pics and will post them. You saved yourself some valuable time by not going to the show though. It was flat this year :

I'm contiplating on going. I think the car show has lost the luster it once had. To me, a lot of car are starting to look the same, or belong in space. Of course, the exotics are beautiful, however, those are for the 1 percent.

You are spot on. The exotics are the most exciting part of the show. The Rolls Royce stand is always impressive and exudes wealth to the extent that you can almost taste it. You can't even touch the cars as they are fenced off. You really get a solid understanding that you are NOT the 1% around their stand. lol.

What pissed me off about this show was the X6/5, GLE AMG, C63 were all locked. WTF. Mercedes and BMW know the these examples are worth what 100k each. That's peanuts to Merc/BMW and even if they got damaged by the people at the show this would not even be noticed by their accountants.

Pass on it and go to the dealership instead, you will probably get a test drive there anyway

NYIAS' biggest benefit to me is the ability to make side-by-side comparisons. Jumping directly from car to car really saves time and sharpens perspective.

Good advice. I might just pass on the show. I remember a few yeas ago. I would leave the show saying WOW. Now I leave and I'm not impressed. I don't know if it's me, or the majority of the cars are just boring. Last year the BMW 4 series GC got my attention. Until I saw it at the dealership next to the 3 series, and the 3 GT. After that it lost its luster to me. Just looked like BMW was confused as to what to do with their styling. Way too many models, that pretty much look the same to me.

Agreed especially given that Merc and BMW are next to each other. Audi is also a stone throw away.

I went there last year, I don't think it's worth it to go annually, maybe once every leap year is better.

Here is motortrend on the same issue

"A cop-out? Oh, absolutely. Which the exception of the Lexus RX's face (what are they smoking!?!), nothing struck me as particularly bad here in New York. Save for the show itself. Why? We saw almost every damn car before the show started. Carmakers, stop doing this! Jaguar XF? Saw it Tuesday. McLaren 570S? Saw it Monday. Lincoln Continental? Saw it Sunday. What's the point of the damn show? Aside from too much late-night fraternizing and the new Honda Civic, not much. Oh, I guess that Scion is pretty much terrible. Jonny Lieberman"

Every leap year sounds good. With the exception of automobiles for the 1%, the majority of the cars are SO, SO.

What also annoys me is the outrageous food/drink prices. One would think there at Yankee Stadium.

I went yesterday. Saw a bunch of nice cars. It was ok. As far as MB C400 (as the C450 AMG wasn't available), I was really impressed by it again. In AMG outfitted trims, it looks mean and fantastic. Interior is pure luxury, with stong hints of sport. Materials were second to none imho. I can def see myself in this car, well, the C450 AMG. My only criticism would be the feeling of being somewhat cramped in there. I am even coming around with the "floating" Navi screen, looks very good and large enough to forget it's floating. The only thing left is to see how the C450 would handle a corner, and how the power delivery would be, and I am jumping ship!
Oh yea, Bugatti Veyron was ok too ;-)

I always leave those shows underwhelmed. If you are currently in the market for a car, and have no idea what you want, it is a help--a big showroom under one roof. If you're an enthusiast, you probably have a pretty clear idea of what you want, and don't need to browse through the Hundai and Fiat stands. I noticed that MINI pulled out of the NY show. I'd be interested to know what their reasoning was.

As a non-expert in car shows, I have only heard of two major ones: Paris and Detroit. I think that manufacturers keep the cool stuff for these two. All other shows I believe are nothing more than a money making opportunity for organizers.

For me, last year's was worth the price of admission just to see the i8 up close

Interesting take on the car show. If everyone had that attitude it would be empty so I guess lots of people find value in it. I spend 3 hours every year wandering around TIAS(Toronto) and look forward to it every year. I think the new C looks way better than the old one. Considerably younger and cooler IMO.

Went on Sunday with my 16 year old son. We had a great time even though the show was really crowded.

Highlights of the show:
Acura NSX
Ford GT
Ford Cobra GT350
The entire McLaren display! - sorry no pics
Manhatten Motors display - Koenigsegg, Bugatti, Lamborghini

Biggest disappointments of the show:
No Ferrari display
No MB C450 AMG Sport - I really wanted to see it as I'm considering it as a replacement for my 335i and I had read elsewhere that it was a part of the display, but one of reps confirmed it was not on display.
Jaguar XF - The exterior was quite nice looking, the interior materials were also very nice. But the interior is really cramped, especially the back seat. The backseat legroom is a little less than an e46 sedan. Overall the interior was significantly more cramped than the S3 (as another poster mentioned). The F30 interior is voluminous by comparison.
All of the locked cars! - I agree with the previous poster, if the MSRP is below $100k and you're a major OEM you can afford to let people sit in the display models!!

Funniest moment at the show:
After my son ogled the Acura NSX spinning on it's podium for what seemed like 10 minutes he turns to me and in his best puppy dog face asks "first car"? followed by a huge smile. Myself, and every parent within earshot all laughed out loud!

The crowds made taking pictures and getting the cars framed into them very difficult, but here's the decent ones I was able to get.

The organisers wanted to place MINI out with the requested space alongside BMW. And alongside Other manufacturers We fought against it but eventually pulled out.
