If there's one manufacturer I hate more than Audi, it's Lexus.

to be honest the interior of the lexus is miles ahead in quality of the bmw. don't even get me started on the reliability. i think that V6 is going to sound much better than bmw's N20. tuning options should be much higher too.

That engine does not compete with the n20. The 204hp 2.5 competes with the n20.

However, I do agree that they should have refreshed the engine choices. However, even having been around since 2005 that 3.5 v6 is every bit as powerful and silky smooth as a N55.

This thing very well may drive great. It may be an absolute blast to drive. They're missing a big part of the equation though. BMW is successful because it's brand wraps three facets together - performance, comfort and class - and places them at an accessible price point. Lexus may get the performance part and the comfort part, but they completely missed on the class part. This thing looks like a riceboy dream come true. Like something sketched out by a high schooler. It's jumbled. Its design lacks focus and purpose. The side sill is the worst part. How did that make it past approval? The back of the car admittedly is not bad. The front - the grill is ridiculous but I could even adjust to that. The entire middle of the car connecting the two is completely uninspired though. As someone else mentioned, it looks like the front, back and middle were designed by 3 different teams and tacked together. I wouldn't want to be seen in something like this when there is the option of a BMW that just exudes class and sophistication available.

BMW, the reason why Lexus is in pursuit of perfection.

"The 3 series is the best in class..."
"We realize our cars are not as good as the 3ers and C class, but we are trying hard..." "We aim for 100%, but we aren't really quite there yet..." That pretty much sums up the video. The guy is way too honest and upfront, he needs to take a few lessons in marketing. |

Both v6 engines, hp is one thing, but neither can touch the n55/n20 in torque. The n20 puts down as much or more torque as the 3.5. Mine has put down 260 to the wheels, near the 3.5s crank rating.

There are some options to improve the standard driving for 3 series as available for other models in the range (5 series, etc.).
You can't say some negative comments before you drive an adequately equipped model |

Faster maybe because of the car they are in. I was only talking about the engine itself. For reference that same 3.5 v6 in a GS350 will outrun my 535i with the N55.

Keep believing that, just don't line up with an IS350 and expect to outrun it because you won't. The N20 is impressive for what it is though. Too bad they don't sound very good.

one thing for sure, Lexus definitely nailed the instrument panel nicely with its LFA style speedo. Looks miles better than the Enhanced Black Panel. |

Again, the n20 is the base engine just as the 2.5 is. I gauantee the n20 puts on much more hurt to the is250 than the 350 does to the n20.

Good luck Lexus. Maybe if you focused on actual driving dynamics instead of dressing up Camrys you might have a shot. At least they are doing one thing right... if you want to be the best, you have to beat the best. And they certainly know who the best is. |
