Biggest Tire fitment in Front

Hi guys,

Just wondering if anybody has fit 255 tires in the front? I was thinking of running:

255/40/18 et 22 instead of the oem 225/45/18 et 34.

Just wondering if anybody has run something this large in the front?

I'm lowered on H&R supersports too so it may be a problem on full steering lock.

Opinions guys?

I don't believe that tire size is recommended on an 8" wheel. However, I someone is running a square setup with the rear 8.5" 255. Can't recall their username or if it was an 18" or 19". But a 255 is possible with the right offset.

I am looking to run a square setup 245/40r18 myself on 8" et34 wheels. Pretty much the most I think you can stuff on the wheel without compromising the side wall.

Not sure if it will fit but the purchase is a good way off. Well guinea pig when I get there.

What width wheel are you using with the smaller off set

This is 255/35-19 ET33 square, the same tire width and diameter as 255/40-18:

If your ET22 wheels are 8.5", they would project out 11mm further. I doubt that will work in the front...probably by a good margin.

I'm running 255/40r18 Super Sports on 18x9 et42 APEX ARC-8s.
3mm spacers up front for the tire to clear the strut.

Love the setup - I've had the car on track and there is zero rub. Still has a bit of understeer at the limit but it is manageable.

255/40/18 is fine on say an 8.5" ET35 tire.

So the 255/40/18 on the 397 18x8 won't work?

it'll probably difficult to mount the tire and the side wall will bulge way over the rim lip. it'll have good curb protection, though ^^

Yeah I think 8.5 is the minimum safe range you can mount a 255 tire. Any thinner would be difficult to mount and would look very bulgy, depending on if you like that sort of thing.

It'll work, but it'll probably hurt handling more than 245. The car won't be as snappy either, the steering will feel much lazier.

I'm running 255 on a 8.5" rim et 35. I'm getting ready to test a 5mm and 10mm spacer to get it flush with the fender. I think with a 245 you'll have perfect fitment and it'll be flush.
