There's still a pretty sizeable wheel/arch gap on an M3.... ACS lowering springs?!

Congrats on the new car

I may have missed some posts but hadn't you ordered an M4 a while back, then cancelled for a M235i and then dumped that for a new M4 order.

Was the M235i not up to the job or do you just bore very easily???

Yeah I agree it looks sizeable there too, was only when I put the photo on screen. Black, tyres, wheels car didn't notice it much but its got some space for sure.

Hmm this sounds like the conversation with Mrs M2Chester (not her real name lol) I have very little logical explanation for this, the series of events was roughly:-

Orders M235i
Waits a while M235i is produced but then....
Gets excited, orders M4
Bottles the M4 pre-production!!
Dealer had not yet sold M235i and in the meantime has stuck lots of MPerf kit all over it
I go for that but really still want the....
M4
Agree not to get raped too much on trading back in and Bingo

M235i is perfectly good but I began to find it a little tiresome on longer trips which I do a bit of. Shorter wheelbase and ridiculous 30 profile PZero RFT on the front made the ride feel fidgety if travelling distances. Also the 6MT eventually did have me lusting for an auto again after hour long M6 delays. Its a cracking manual though, part of me did think of keeping the M235i!

So my unwanted advise would be:-

Always go Auto, BMW options are so good 8AT and DCT are special.
Everyone thinking of the M2, make sure you drive it a lot on a very long weekend test drive, that F22 chassis is quite small and small wheelbase. It will look sexier than and M235i and wider but my gripes above might still count.
Already this M4 feels Jeckle and Hyde more. Put on comfort everything (suspension, steering, throttle & gear change speed all have 3 settings each) and its a great cruiser (now with PSS tyres on non RFT and bigger profile tyres despite still having 19s) but press M1 for Sport settings and add in a few cheeky Sport+'s and Jesus Christ its a noisy snarling beast that is quite intimidating in these early days....it really really wants to go fast. Racked up a speed of XXX tonight without even trying.

Sorry for the long answer, if I've ranted trying to balance out my experience of the M235i which is a great car, £ for £ BMWs best right now I'd say.

Hi teaston cheers buddy.

This might sound weird but I usually try to get a few things with each car change I've never had before. This time DCT, Black Exterior, Online Entertainment, Full Leather, sunroof and ......431HP were the newbies.

I also do a lot of cycling with the wife and kids so wanted to keep the roof rack possible. F8X CF roof does not have the roof rack threads, they have the little roof flaps and even the bits where a thread should be but do not accept mounts. For the F8X as you might know you can swap CF roof in lieu of the Sunroof. This pushed me down the BSM colour route to hide my lack of CF! I think it looks ok actually and the BMW execution of Sunroof is flawless, really impressed.

Ironically this all worked in my favour car was due ready just in time for March Reg but there was a CF roof shortage and still is a backlog....sun Sunroof cars jumped to the front

PS there is a thread in the M3/4 forum where a guy found a creative solution to the cycle roof mounts a suction cup attachment that would go onto the CF roof. One look and I was terrified, can't think of anything worse at 70mph wondering which bike will go first on the MWay!

I didn't know about the roof rack thing, that makes sense then!

Hows the DCT gear change speed? Did you have the ZF8 before?
