Best compliment to Opticoat?
Hey guys, what do you think is the best compliment to opticoat?
I'm currently using Optimum Instant detailer, some people are saying use wax with it? some people say don't? what do you guys use with Opticoat? |

I find OptiCoat taking some of the shine away from traditional clear coat, so I usually put wax just for that shine. And a little more protection sure doesn't hurt.

Hmm I haven't notice. It's rained a bit here in FL, and water still beads, no matter what. So it's hard to determine if the wax is doing that or OptiCoat. I use Meguiars Tech Wax. I've been washing it often because the dirt sticks to the side of the car as the water doesn't roll off as much in there. I've put some in the front now and I'll start taking notice from now on.

Don't put anything.
Optimum No Rinse to wash (as was mentioned), that's it. It's the milk of the gods There are 2 problems with putting something else on: 1. It doesn't last long at all - you're throwing your money away 2. The car will take the properties of the coating, potentially attracting MORE dirt, etc. If you're going to a show & shine situation, then a little instant detailer, or CarPro Reload will add some slickness - but the two rules above apply. Fight the notion of adding more. One of the the reasons you go with Opti-Coat in the first place is to avoid doing all that. |
