Answers to the questions raised and a clarification of Jason's post (who used some of my info I now believe to be incorrect).

1. Yes, what you see in the screenshot is F80 LCI. US 2016 M3 has model code 8M93, while the current one is 3C93.

2. 440i will likely be a 2016.5 model, starting production in March. Then all *30i cars will arrive at the same time in July for MY2017. For all 4 series cars, this will only be a re-engine, not a full LCI. LCI will happen later, likely MY2018 (none of 4 series LCI models are in the system yet).

3. SamS is correct about engine power.

General note: please remember that a new engine and LCI are two very different things. You can get LCI without new engine (328i), or new engine without LCI (440i), or LCI and new engine both (340i). Don't make any connections between them, since none exist.

Hope the new motors last longer, I'm too scared to buy a CPO (~30k miles) x35i, I would be scared to own it past 90k, that's too much money to spend to only drive 60k and have to find something else. I'll keep driving my naturally aspirated ZHP and the better half will be getting a new CRV this year, maybe we can feel confident switching into a BMW SAV in 8 years.

Looks like it. According to the list, the 2016 F80 starts production in July, the same month that the 340i does. The LCI will be applied to all 3-series variants at the same time.

The same way that LCIs and iDrive updates are also divorced. Sometimes you get one without the other, and sometimes you get both at the same time.

My N54 when traded in at 125k miles ran like new. Stop being scared on these engines. They are fine.

Yup. Your car is already old.
Not really.

I'll be getting the LCI now. My SA is aware that my order will now be pushed forward to July.

Interesting that the GT remains a 335...I wonder if it will retain the same engine/power as it has currently.

I would assume so, considering it's made at the 5 series factory, and the 5 series will continue to use the engine for at least another year.

I guess it wouldn't make that much sense logistically to ship the new engine to another factory for a single, limited production vehicle (335 GT).

Which N54 car used the ZF 8HP45 transmission? And comparing what "chipped" cars output has nothing to do with what BMW will supply for any given engine/transmission combo. There is not reason, nor any indication, that BMW will stop using the 8HP45. Since it easily handles all 3-cylinders, 4-cylinders, as well as the N55, it's expected to handle the B58 as well (320hp). The only other automatic they use is strictly for V8 cars and ActiveHybrids.

Yep, which pretty much guarantees that MY2016 F80 cars will get the LCI LED tail lights.

Which also means F80/82/83 will not see a new headlight design until MY2018, if at all, since they are shared with the 4-series cars.

so what about the rest of the lineup, X5/X6? they could use that 20hp boost, are they going to wait 3 more years for their LCI to do it? X3/X4...

Is anything known about iDrive update (NBT-Evo) coming with LCI?

And, is this the version with LTE that will give regular, free, nav map updates (as announced at CES) or is that some version further out in the future.

EDIT:
Nevermind, didn't see the tiny F80 section on that screenshot, which is why I was confused.

There's always a bit of fuzzy math involved, all those kW to PS to hp conversions. But we won't argue about single digit difference, right?

That version is already present in F23 (called "Headunit High 2"). Even though it's brand new, the part number for the unit used by F23 is already scheduled to be replaced in March. To me, that suggests that we're going to see it spreading across the F2x/F3x range pretty quickly. I would (very conservatively) give about 80% chance the LCI will have it.

But just to clarify, that LTE Nav (Headunit High 2) should not be confused with what has been seen on the prototype G11 cars (NBT_Evo?) with gesture interface.

And, considering the Headunit High 2 in the F23 has a new/different part number than what's in current F2x/F3x cars, a software update to provide that functionality in existing cars is extremely unlikely.

Lol. Grow a pair.

A CPO vehicle carries 6 year /100,000 warranty. If you are still to afraid ol with that kind of security then you shouldn't ever buy a new car.

Just keep your out of warranty old car because you aren't worthy lol

I wonder if there will be a new ppk for the 340i, if it already comes with 326ps.
The current 8hp450 wouldn't allow more torque than 450nm, so it might be the case that bmw also updates the transmission to the 2nd generation of the zf 8hp, the 8hp500. As the name suggests, besides some other improvements, it can deal with 500nm.
and bmw already uses it for the 5series.
But what about the 6gear manual, it would also need an update, as it is already limited to 430nm right now..

Some info on the 8hp500
