Happier new year lease credit question

So with the happier new year event coming up, BMW is offering a $3,500 credit towards the lease of any 2013 car. When negotiating the price of a car, will this credit bring down the msrp or invoice price? Or will it simply go towards as payment for the car? Thoughts?

For starters, it's NOT $3,500 across the board. It varies by model. Beyond that, it's applied toward cap cost or for upfront fees AFTER you negotiate a price.

THANKS. So let's say HYPOTHETICALLY I negotiate to invoice price. After that price is established, the $3,500 on SELECT MODELS would be applied to reduce the cost and effectively give me lower monthly payments?

Yes. I used it to cover my upfront costs so I had zero due at signing.

If you're interested in knowing the details, you can use the following info which I have scooped up while shopping for my order:

3-er sedan - $1000
3-er coupe - $1500
5-er - $2000-2500 (I believe sedan vs coupe - didn't care to find more as I'm not interested in that segment)
6-er - $3000
7-er - $3500

That's what the dealer said is from BMW NA.

PS: let me know if you find a good ED-friendly dealer in the area... I'm hunting as well. Thanks!

Like most customers, you missed the UP TO $3500 is available. Most client advosors are willing to make invoice deals on cars instock, but you might find some that are apprehensive about making those kind of deals on cars that are far from distressed merchandise. Remember BMW Centers are for profit businesses and Client Advisors dont do thier jobs for practice. If I where you I would establish a relationship with a dealer and and Client Advisor. This means making a reasonable offer, and clearly outlining your expectations before you exchange any money. If you have a experience that exceeds your realistic expectations, send referals write reviews, give the Client Advisor and the Center a reason to want to do business with you. Dont be afriad that the dealer is "going to make money on me" because thats why thier open. The question is if the money you spend is matched with the value of your experience. A good deal has less to do with price then it has to do with your state of mind after purchase.
