Hmm.. If it were me, I'd at least called BMW and let them know the Dealer charged more. The reason BMW quotes the prices is to avoid situations like this, where one person is charged more than the other for something straightforward. They don't quote times for suspension, etc as there are too many variables.

There should have been ZERO extra parts needed. That, coupled with the grill quote they gave you definitely warrants the "complaint" call. At least so the next guy doesn't get fleeced.

Anyway, I've beat than dead horse Enjoy the exhaust.. I love mine!!

I don't think a call to BMW NA is necessary. You can probably straighten it out with a call to the parts or service manager.

With respect to the F30 335i, yes it does.

Regarding the exhaust sounding better over time, I agree. I took these videos when the new exhaust had less than 100 miles under its belt. About 500 miles later, I can definitely say that it is sounding even better.

The video does a serviceable job at capturing the "sound" of the exhaust but with the equipment I was using (or lack thereof), you can't really get a great sense of how loud it is.

I'm new to this so a pretty noobish question: Does this $1000+ upgrade just make the sound different on the car (and nothing else) ? I'm just trying to understand if I am missing something here or are people simply ready to spend so much money just to get a different sound from exhaust.

Pretty much. But dont understate sound coming from the engine. It adds to the overall experience. Those that dont understand why people would spend for exhausts will probably have a hard time understanding. understand. On a 50k car, a 1,000 option is like adding parking package, or dynamic handling.

And for some of us the 335 is a $100k+ car...

Thanks folks!! I certainly don't pretend to claim that I appreciate how that one grand justifies a different sound, but it is good to know that there are a quite a few people who are ready to pay for this I'll hope that some day I get to appreciate it too!!

On a side note, I plan to get the PPK for the F30 335i that is due to be out in November. I think I read that the PPK "modifies" the sound of the engine too. Looking forward to see what kind of difference that makes to the overall experience.

I think I can fit these exhaust tips into the exhaust tip gap:

Sure.. maybe for him. But I'd still call BMW NA

Problem is the next guy is getting fleeced as well. Calling BMW NA just puts in on record. If it's a one-off, then nothing will happen. If they are scamming 10, 20, 30 people and they all call, then BMW will step in. It's the right thing to do.

Agreed!

We pay more than $65K for the 335i here in Canada...

I understand and agree with you 100% about not wanting people to get screwed over. Although in my opinion I think that to many people call and to many people suggest that others call BMW NA the first time there is an issue. You would be surprised how many posts are in here where the first thing suggested is to call BMW NA and complain about an issue before even trying to rectify it with the dealership. I myself have had to contact BMW NA regarding my 2012 F30 328i. My car was towed to the dealership two times in the first two weeks of having it and it has been in the shop a total of seven times in the three months I've had it.

Install the grills yourself!! Super easy on the e9x's so it can't be much harder or all that different on the F3x's

A few people noted that the exhaust looked like it was hanging a little low. I took the car to the dealer today and had it adjusted. I will post pictures of what it looks like when I get it back tomorrow. Thanks to those who pointed it out.
