excited to try this out when my car comes. just curious what glenn's opinion on the hk is for a car like the f3x. any competitors in the same class that have a better upgraded audio option from the factory?

I didn't really spend any appreciable time evaluating audio systems. BMW had the best telematics system, and the best car for my needs. Since there is only 1 audio upgrade in the F30, it was a no-brainer to equip the HK option on my car.

you can do that effectively with additional harmonics, but not just by boosting given frequencies. I'd hazard a guess its also SBIR related.

Go easy though, if the 100Hz band is a low shelf, you'll be adding back the mudiness you removed by pulling down the 200Hz band.

Give it a go,
I just went and tried the settings--Bass and treble I left at +1 each.

The sound is certainly more in your face, but for me the extra highs get a little tinny...I tried it with the radio with rock, alternative rock and hip hop and a usb with Rock. I would say not bad until you increase the volume then the highs kind of take over. But, I tend to be a little more bass heavy and that is why I bump the 100 +5.

This was my assessment, as well. I listened to six different 320 kbps tracks from the Music Collection for my test.

I'm going to stick with GlennQNYC's most recent recommendation.

Give it a go,
What type of music do you listen to with these settings?

Got to say I'm not a huge fan. Too much tinniness.

Exactly my opinion.

So, I don't know how is this so complicate for people, and most important, everyone has different music taste so pretty much different EQ.
It is no brainier to go to the EQ and play with the setting till you feel is the best sound for you.

I like to hear the crispy of the tweeters, so no way I will put 10k - . Pretty much 10kh will never go lower than 100h.

Here is how I like it.

100hz +4
200 -2
500 -1
1Khz flat
2Khz flat
5KHz +1
10Khz+5

Bass +3
Treble +5

The consensus among professionals is that the audio system should be sonically neutral; with the goal being to reproduce the what the engineers and producers intended as accurately as possible. The actual listening material is insignificant to this objective.

That being said, everyone's ears and brain work differently; and people just have different tastes. There is a lot of "art" in this science!

Enjoy the ride.

Glenn, have you considered upgrading your speakers to the BavSound HK speaker set? Have you heard them?

I'm wondering how much better (if any) the upgraded speakers are (properly tuned) compared to stock with Glenn's tune.

THIS!

That being said, I currently am playing with 10khz at +1 or +2 because I do prefer a touch bright.

Can somebody advise the difference between flat and centred? Especially where flat is used in relation to Bass and Treble.

Thanks

Different words meaning the same thing. No adjustment from the center position of the level for that frequency.
