OEM Rear Camera Missing
I am looking for some troubleshooting advice for an issue I'm having with my OEM reversing camera issue. The car is a 2016 328i base with HU_ENTRYNAV.
Just after replacing my car battery (not sure if it's related or not, just providing as much info as possible) my rear view camera stopped working. When I put the car in reverse, my display looks like the attached image. No camera view, no error message, just the PDC display and all of the reverse camera function grayed out. Here is the error code for the camera: 72 Driver's side footwell module 1 error E59449: CAN message, status qualifier rear view (ST_QU_RV): Missing From what I can tell, since I don't get an error on the CID, it is probably either that the camera module failed, or I disturbed wiring in the battery compartment when I replaced the battery. Has anyone gone through a similar issue? Or does anyone have any troubleshooting advice to narrow down the issue? |

The error message indicates that the TRSVC module is not responding.
You can now use ISTA to make some tests. But first you can check the fuse 154 in the fuse box in the trunk. Or if you have E-Sys you can check if you still see the TRSVC and if the CAFD is still in there. |

Okay, two months later, I still haven't fixed this, and not having a rear camera is driving me crazy.
Fuse 154 was in good shape. I don't think I have a TRSVC module, since my car only has rear camera. It looks like the HSD cable runs directly to the Rear View Camera Parking Control Module (BMW PN 04939395301). My ENET cable should be delivered tomorrow and I can run some diagnostics. Before it arrives though, will the rear view module show up in ISTA if there are errors, similar to the TRSVC? Looking through previous posts about rear camera retrofits coming from a car with no camera, when the use the rear camera module (not TRSVC) they just have to VO code the option, rather than code a CAFD. I'm wondering if that means that troubleshooting this issue will be different without a TRSVC. |

Hey there, saw this post and I can relate. My rear camera has been out for months on my F30. I finally scanned my error codes and turns out I also am getting a E59449 code as well. I haven't checked out my fuses yet but I'll get on that ASAP. Just wondering if anyone has had any luck remedying this issue?

I replaced the battery last week and unfortunately, I have the same problem. The Rearview camera is not working and I got the Error code E59449. Has anyone found out a way to fix this problem? I would appreciate if you can share your comments..

Got the same issue but intermittently, if i leave the car off after the camera does not appear for approx 15 mins then restart, 9 times out of 10 it will display again and work until the next day.
Any updates please? Assuming the module is at fault. Was it a plug and play replacement? |

You need to really hook the car up to ISTA-D to see if you can see the TRVSC in the module tree. You can then run a calibration on the module (if it's on the tree and is green).

Where is the TRSVC Located?
I recently had the same issue. BMW replaced my battery and my rear view camera stopped working. BMW ran a diagnostics and found that my TRSVC unit is unresponsive. I ordered a used unit from ebay but not sure where the TRSVC is located in my 2016 328xi. Is it located in the trunk of the car?

If it was fitted from factory then it should be in the driver's footwell area, above the pedals and near the OBD port. You'll have to take off the trim piece underneath and then you should be able to see it. Not the best picture and my car is right hand drive so obviously it'll be reversed for you, but you can see it through the hole I cut for the storage box here (with the blue connector):
And another less than ideal pic: It just clips in to a plastic holder so you should be able to remove the module with no tools, just disconnect the wiring harness and the HSD connector then push the clip in and the module will pull out. Only tool you should need is a 10mm socket to remove the trim above the pedals. Last edited by Zheez; 08-10-2023 at 12:50 PM.. |
