F36 LCI Used Digital Cluster doesnt work with HUD

Hello all,

After my digital cluster, nbt evo navigation and steering wheel were stolen, i got parts from a wrecked car.

The only problem found after installing them was that the HUD is not working at all with the current digital cluster (part code 62108800373). The technician ran a test in the BMW app online and he got a HWA code for Exchange KOMBI (latest version being 62109442850).

The technician said i need a newer version cluster while the guys that sold me the cluster said there might be a fuse issue or improper cable connection.

Any help with this?

Both those European Kombis are HUD compatible and 100% interchangeable

As are all the HUDs in the F3x LCI models

You are aware the used KOMBI needs to be cleared of the old VIN and KM readings?

This cannot be done by a BMW Dealer or about 99.9% of the coders as the actual chip must be removed and cleared with special equipment for fairly obvious reasons. Guy who sold you cluster might not know what he was doing.

Likewise person who told you that you needed newer version is clueless as well.

Is the 6WB cluster standard in your car?
Have you factory coded the new cluster? You can do this with Esys or Protool your self.

car came with 6wb and Hud ,yes. The seller of the xxx373 cluster told me to send my vin to have to cluster coded for my car to be plug and play. The only variable here is the fact that the hsd cable that comes from the hud to the cluster was broken when they stole it and the technician cut the end and put a new one. Is it possi le the pins dont align properly because of that?

Are you sure the guy correctly coded your 6WB and not only virginized it with your VIN? The module also need to be factory coded according to your vehicle order data (FA). Since your FA contains HUD, those parameters also needs to be activated in your combi module.

They are pretty sure the cluster is coded properly. They insist is the cable.Weird thing happened today.I went inside the briefly the "ouside temperature" message popped up on the cluster and also on the HUD...and in a few seconds it went away.Does this confirm the cable is working ok?

Update: i got a cable from a wrecked car and changed it(a nightmare if you try without taking out the entire dashboard). Now it works. The cable was the culprit.
