170 mph still pulling (1M ) but the road got a tad too bumpy so I backed off...

1M is not the best behaving car @ speeds > 140mph....

The fastest I've gone in my BMW was in about 2 minutes, but that includes strapping 2 kids in their car seats. I'm working on it....

Fastest I've been piloting something on the road was on my Gixxer 750... 178mph indicated on a long stretch of road.

I remember that video. While the 'vette probably did hit 165mph at some point during the chase, I doubt it was going that speed in this clip. The police cruisers wouldn't be able to keep up at that speed.

The fastest I've gone in my M3 is (don't laugh) ~95mph on an off ramp. I'm only on the freeway for 1/4 to 1 mile at the most, and there are always cars around me. I'm not going to endanger them because of my excessive speed.

in the m3, probably 130. previous car (E60 M5) , 160 mph

I doubt the vet hit 165 at any point. Let alone when it was being filmed. And certainly not when it crashed. That truck was nearly stopped when the vette hit it.

Yeah, it was definitely no where near that speed when it crashed. If it had been, it would have been a blur when passing the first truck and probably a fireball of a wreck when it hit the other truck. Those old police chase videos always over dramatize everything.
