Objects on road??!
I was surprised yesterday to see a traffic warning on my screen. I don't generally drive with my GPS on, and it's the first time I've seen a warning in a year of driving the car. Something to do with the new software?

A warning that comes up in the Nav is similar to a traffic or construction zone warning. Someone reported it and the information is being passed along.

Yes, but I didn't have the GPS on the screen, it "broke through". Seems odd that this is the first time I've seen this in a year of driving the car.

The cars position is constantly tracked anyway, so yes you should receive warnings like this regardless which screen you are currently on.
If you have the extended instrument cluster, you will see it there too. I just noticed that sometimes its displayed either too late (you are already past the spot) or too late in terms of that the debris has already be removed once you reach the spot. |

By always having nav loaded, you stay ahead of any traffic issues. Just last week the navi gave me a detour. Had I not taken it, I would have been stuck on the highway for hours. |

You don't need to have a trip loaded to get warnings, just run with the Nav screen on and they'll show up on the display. You do need to have a destination loaded to get detour instructions, as that's the only way the Nav knows where you're going.
