BMW Individual Black leather and Cashmere stitching + CF Trim (F30 3 series)
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com Finally got off my butt today and took some pics of the Individual Black leather with Cashmere stitching and the CF Trim and Gearshift CF, that I've posted about previously. Hope you like as much as I do Just a bit more info, for those who didn't see the original posting... This is a 335i and when I spec'd it up, I was discussing the interior with the New Car Sales Manager at my dealership and we tossed up all the normal Dakota options, but I wasn't too keen on them other than black, as my previous car had Space Grey leather and it was a bit too light. However, I wasn't too keen on black leather as it would be an all black interior and wanted to break it up a little. So, while mulling it over, Darren suggested the Merino Leather, a few choices are available in Australia. He suggested that the Black with Cashmere piping would look good. Okay, I agree, let's do it, I said. That's it. Good choice, huh? The downside, for me, was that I then couldn't have the standard dash trim and needed to choose between the various wood grains or piano black. I hate wood grain, so PB it was. However, wasn't really happy with that, so I organised the CF trim after bugging the guys in the Oz forum for their views. The dealer fitted it for me, along with the CF gear shift trim (long story). Here are a couple of exterior pics from the delivery:

Fantastic. I wish we could get the "Individual" leather options in the USA. I imagine there are part numbers for the door leather inserts that could be obtained... seats too, but probably cost prohibitive.

Thanks everyone...
With regards to the type of CF, it's all the 'raw' or rough style, genuine OEM.

It looks great. BUT ... I think 10 years from now, we will look back at this era of car interiors and view this excess of carbon fiber use in the same way we see wood paneling and floral wall paper now. Moral of the story: I hope you plan on selling that car before 2023.

PS: I wouldn't have said it was an excess, but you're (of course) entitled to your opinion.

Fake CF? Care to elaborate on what you mean by that, ManiacGT?

Very nice
One question regarding CF. I have OEM CF interior trim in my E91 and it looks much better with properly lacquered finish. I wonder why F3x CF looks like that? |

No idea. I like it though. Shiny equals fingerprints for me... But that's just my view

Dude, that's an amazing interior. And great exterior color, too. Overall a really nicely done 335i. The Merino seats with the special piping are very classy and tasteful.
As for CF, it can be either "dry" or "wet" where wet is essentially clear coated with a gloss finish. Same exact Carbon, just different finish. I think both look nice and when tastefully mixed can look nice together. Regardless of how the new generation will view CF in 10 years, it will always be badass to me. Carbon fiber is a functional and beautiful material, so it's very different than wood paneling or floral wallpapers. |
