first flat with RFT's

I put 6K on it and just got my first flat on the run flat tires. I couldnt tell by the ride just by the warning light that came on. I thought the tire was just low so I added some air and the light went off. Then about 30 mins later it came on again, so I knew it had to be a flat. I drove it to a Goodyear shop the next day and found out that the hole was too close to the sidewall to plug so I needed a new one. The Goodyear tires that come on the F30 are so new that most places dont even stock them and it had to be ordered. It took two days to get one in and I drove on the flat with no problems while waiting. The new tire was $350 and I didnt even get any vaseline with that.

Garage List
But at least there was some lotion right?

Did you check Tirerack.com. They have 2 day overnight shipping and since they often don't charge sales tax even with the shipping fee the price is lower than local shops.

I'm pretty sure run flats aren't ever to be repaired no matter where the puncture is.

Yep, runflats are much less likely to be repaired than regular tires, unfortunately.

Do you guys know your tires have a 12 month road hazard warranty? Check the booklet that came with your car.

If you notice the deflation right away -went flat over night- then they can be plugged like a normal tire. BMW won't do it though. I had it done a couple of times before I GOT RID OF THEM!. Once you drive anywhere on it the sidewall has been compromised rendering it useless.
Lots of people here like them and there are some good reasons for that but I can't get past the waiting for days for a new tire and throwing away a perfectly good really expensive tire because there is a nail in it.......oh yea, the ride is brutal too...on 19s anyway.... and they handle like crap.

Seems like a good excuse to get Michelin Pilot SS.

the Goodyear sales guy said with these tires we will be lucky to get 20K miles on them before they need replacing. So thats $1500 for new shoes for her every year for me.
