School me on forged vs flow formed, please

I want to replace my 513Ms with a set of 19s. I am not a huge fan of the 437Ms, and am gravitating towards a set of VFF 103s or HRE FF01s. Obviously these cost way less than a set of forged wheels, and appear to weigh about the same. For a DD that hits the track 2-3x/year, is there any legitimate reason to put the extra cash into a set of forged wheels?

Many consider Flow Forming/Flow Forging etc. as the middle ground between cast and fully forged. Generally speaking, the face of the wheel is cast and the barrel of the wheel is treated in a way similar to a forged wheel. This creates weight savings, while still maintaining appropriate strength.

You'll see many companies offer this as it's an excellent balance between cost/performance (Also seen in Enkei "MAT" technology, Work "Kiwami", etc). We also offer a few Flow Formed options in our VMR V803, V710FF, and V810.

The manufacturing method (alone) of a wheel has much less to do with it's "track/DD readiness" than the actual design and manufacturing quality. Not all flowform, forged, cast wheels are created the same. We have plenty of customers from GTRs, M cars, Golf Rs etc. use both our Flow Formed and full cast options on the track.

Example of Flow Forming (NON VMR content)

I've got VMRs and they're beastly for non-forged wheels.
