Hey guys,
I have some pretty important information I think everyone should know. Here is the jist of what I am going to say: If you are running a tune / JB4, you should have the tune turned OFF before doing coding! I did not know this. After our coding session Sunday, I noticed first, that the electrical in my car was re-setting as the coding was going on. I did a total of 4 things coding wise, auto-start stop to last setting, DVD in motion, side blinkers only light up at night when they are blinking and disabled the passenger seat belt chimes... I noticed after a couple of codes, the radio turning on by itself. Later on I got in my car and notice my side mirrors moved as well from my previous settings.. After we ate at Porto's, I was driving home and my car went into Limp mode. After it was in limp mode, and turned off, I noticed the car was not as fast as I have been used too...It felt like I had no boost and was running stock again.. I had to have Dr-Euro re-install my JB4 today. He was very helpful and got it back to normal again! We even did some logs that I just sent to Terry @ Burger. The numbers looked pretty good according to Dr-Euro, and I also could immediately feel the boost again in all my runs.. I think it is important everyone should know this before doing coding! Also, if you have the Burger chord, take it out of your engine bay! I had left mine in there, but have it out now. Rumor has it, if that wire is not tied down, comes loose and touches one of the silver batter terminals in your engine, you can possibly fry your ECU.. I did not know this and am lucky that did not happen. Be safe everyone, set JB4 to map 0 before coding and keep the burger chord out of the engine. Just a warning, you do not want to go into limp mode! Hope to see everyone soon

Hey Felix,
Not quite sure when it will be if you need coding. Most likely it'll be after the new year. I am planning an F30 cruise around Jan/Feb so hopefully you can make it out for that. Check the SoCal section for updates. |

I can't see how coding those things caused any issue with the DME related things, it's not touched in any coding we do (on purpose!). First, when you code an ECU, the ECU is "rebooted" and initialized. When you code the FEM_BODY (lights, ASS, etc), it will reset the FEM and that WILL reset the mirrors, you will have to readjust them. That occurs when coding any F30. So what you saw is normal. When you code the HU_CIC (DVD in motion), it reboots the head unit and the radio turns on. This also occurs on all F30's and is normal. The 4 things that were coded only affected the FEM, HU_CIC, and ACSM ECU's. I don't think the tune is connected to those, are they? I have coded other F30's with a stage 1 tune and one with the PPK and had no issues at all. Did Dr Euro reset your 3 ECU's back to factory defaults or did they indicate that the coding was the cause, or was it just coincidence? |
