I mean, your opinion is pretty short sighted. Audi's engines are still poorly engineered and outdated. Just because a car company moves toward a lease sales model, doesn't mean car enthusiasts should suffer needlessly.

Just as a 320i base model is no comparison to even a well optioned 335/40i, let alone a M4. The leather in the RS3, the stitching, displays etc look more refined than BMW's 3er offerings. The RS3's suspension in Sport mode is twice as firm as my adaptive in sport. As a PAX in the RS3, I can feel much more feedback than in my car as a PAX....not sure about driver, which is why Im a BMW owner. Even Merc's interiors are miles better than BMW's. Its okay to appreciate other cars, and its okay to say you dont have the best in everything. In the end we all bought our F30s for a reason over BrandXYZ.

That's not what I am saying at all and I am not denying that there is a problem. I'm just presenting a solution: Don't own these cars past too many years and too many miles if you don't want to deal with these problems.

Most car enthusiasts don't enjoy leasing cars. Pretty much what I am saying.

You're so narrow-minded, remember car enthusiast doesn't have to be someone who modifies their car to the extreme so much so that it's not an option to lease

yet they still utilize timing belts? Only way to change them is to drop the engine. Pretty faulty if you ask me.

Yes many, but is it not safe to say that the majority prefer to wrench and modify? No need to get offended by calling me narrow-minded when the aftermarket car scene is much larger than the audience getting the next lease car.

https://www.audiusa.com/content/dam/...-Year-2016.pdf Audi like most everyone else has been transitioning to chains. Further, I don't recall Audi having 2.0s grenade because of poor design (i.e., timing failures/pump drive issues) like the N20.

I actually guarantee that in BMWs case more cars are leased than modified with aftermarket parts by the original owner/lease holder Why would I be offended? My car is owned and I don't and never have owned/leased an Audi. I'm just pointing out that your viewpoints are very narrow.

Both manufacturers say the chain should last the life of the car, but both manufacturers (especially BMW) have had issues with the timing chain. |

Safe to say that BMW's chains are much easier to replace than Audi/VW? Audi has its fair number of issues of chain failures, such as an actual class lawsuit for chain tensioner failures and chains stretching? Audi also has well documented issues of oil starvation that actually makes websites other than their prospective car forums. |

I've been an enthusiast for over 20 years. I've leased and I've owned. Your assumption is ungrounded imho.

I have never owned an Audi, but am on my 5th BMW, to include a few Ms. My parents have owned multiple Audis. There is no way possible to say a BMW interior is nicer than an Audi. And I say that as someone who will probably never choose an Audi over a BMW. Audi wins on the interior comparrison hands down, and I hate admitting that, since my dad and I argue about which car is better all the time.

Added to that, chains are not faultless and should be changed as well, just not nearly as often as belts. |

My only intent was to say that in my case you're assumption is wrong.

That's like saying we have nice Minis. Or that the Bugatti Chiron is a nice Passat.

i was a vag fanboy for years and audis only have 2 glaring problems to me:
1. high price 2. no manual in performance models regardless it's a nice car. hard to compare to an f30 since an rs3 is supposed to be a competitor for the m2. but all i'll say is quattro >>>> xdrive, and the sports diff cures all of your understeer concerns. but at this point, the only way i'd buy one is if it was a TDI and they promised another scandal/buyback session in a few years lol. |
