every time i see this, i think of the toyota camry. google it and you'll know what i'm talking about. when that camry first came out i laughed out loud at how rediculous it looked. the design of the car is nice but that gap totally throws off the front end. now BMW is doing the same? compare the F10 to the E90 LCI and you can get a perfect example of what looks right and IMO what doesn't. the F01 and the F10 look great... except for that ghastly hood gap. i can't stand it. i'll be pissed if i see this on the new 3
It is because of the EU pedestrian safety regulations. The design is a function of the regs and safety, in the EU the cars have sensors, actuators, pyrotechnics etc. that actually can raise the hood up and limit the impact.

Many EU brands now have similar bumper/hood lines because of this.

Excellent rendering! I wonder how much sweeter it'll look with more aggressive front and side skirts... Anyway to render some possible sporty fronts/sides?

Mehhhh ...

BMW can do better than that! Sorry this is not convincing at all!

While the new 5 and 7 look great, this one looks like a dud, too much of a downsized copy of the 5.

Also that M-Package for F10 - 5 Series; the rear is + the 19" wheels have a nice design ... but for some reason look too small, would have needed a 20" option.

very accurate

I've actually seen/sat in the new 3series during a focus study.

These renderings are fairly accurate to the real thing. The inside is meh, and felt cramped although they were still looking on ways to improve both the interior and exterior in the study I participated in

So we shouldn't hope for an interior as nice as the new 5er?

I think the new 3 series will look somewhere in between from the current 3 series to the new 5 series...

Your rendering is learning more towards the 5series.

I'm amazed at the quality of these renderings.

But that being said, I'm not a huge fan of this design.

i HATE that inclined line, parallel line makes it sit soooo much nicer. E38 sits beautiful just like the E30, E36, E46 etc... its got that same slant line the C Class has

if it's accurate then i don't know, because it's a little 5 series, no two ways about it. Is BMW gone the way of Audi and makes one design and clones it in different size? That would be sad.

Scott, do you have an approximate release date for the F30 M packet/sport in Eurpoe?

And possibly the touring version?

Cheers,

Mark.

How weird is it that when the E90 first came out I didn't like it but now toward end of lifecycle LCI E90 looks great w/ M Sport.
Keep your e90 until you like e30 or e30's LCI w/M sport come out? I didn't really like e90 at first but warmed up later but e30 .....mmm I am not sure if it will ever grow on me. I hope production model looks better than all these renderings. New 5 series and e30 look too much like Japanese cars, IMO.

That's the main reason why I find E90 better than newer generation Bimmers as the car looks more sporty with the grilles part angled
