Hmmm, Perhaps a wheel update too.
Never really liked those wheels on the 5er to begin with.

Hmmm, does anyone else notice that the TOTALLY uncovered pics of the F30 showing the front end, that there seems to be a space between the middle of the kidney grills. Almost like an opening between them, kinda like the Efficientdyanmics Concept car?

Not impressed. The design looks more conservative and "executive" for the businessman who can't afford the 5 or 7-series rather than having it's own 3-series identity.

There will have to be some severe design departures to get this base design M-ready.

Compliments on the excellent render. But as far as the design, it shows BMW learned from the LCI e90 debacle. Now that the base model looks more mediocre, they will sell quite a few M-sport upgrades. I dont think you will find BMW making the same mistake of making the base package look too good for a buyer to improve on with a lucrative upgrade.

I'm glad they're letting the car evolve and not making whole-scale changes to it, a la the 5 and 7 series. You can really see the lineage of the car back to the E90, which I think is an important part of BMW's stylistic design philosophy.

It's definitely more evolutionary than the last jump.

The exterior by itself resembles another LCI of the E90... at least from a styling perspective. In the pictures I think the F30 front end looks a bit too busy, but I might love it in person.

Nice!

So far so good, now I simply can't wait till we start seeing what the M-Sport will look like.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it will be available 6months - 1 year after the initial release. Right?

A 350i is not happening. A 340i could happen after the first model year or so (debut in conjucntion with the F32), or maybe at the LCI. It would be an uprated N55 just like the 640i (and the 740i too, once it changes from the N54 to the N55, probably for its LCI).

Sorry to burst your fantasy - But the 335i/335d designation remains for the 3er.
I do not forsee any entry or compact models being given 40i. as it is purely the mainstay of upper segment models.

3 in comparison to old 3

Hey Everyone,

I wanted to show a photo comparison that I thought shows quite a bit. The design, from the rear, side, and 3/4 rear seems evolutionary, not revolutionary. Of course, we know the front will be the beginning of a new styling era.

Enjoy!

Now what are we going to do with fuel on the wrong side of the car? Makes it impossible to tell your passengers they have to do the job because they're closer to it ;-)

So, basically, there won't be a 340i. That's fine by me, considering the next logical step up the engine chain would be the 1Ms engine, and that would undermine that car. Not to mention, a suped up 335i that had the performance of a 1M would kill the market for an M3 if you could buy the 335i off the lot that way. Therefore, keeping a strait forward N55 in all 35i models (i.e. limiting power output to sub 1M levels) makes sense, and a turbo four in the 28i models that creates no competition for the turbo six also makes sense.

So basically, even though all BMWs look the same now, they will be clearly be differentiated (still) by engine output and performance parts. I LIKE IT. lol

Can SCOTT confirm that what we know as the 335i coupe (E92) will in the near future be called a 435i coupe (F32)? It's been asked before, I'm sure. But as we near the official release of the 3er sedan we will see the F32 in camo testing. I wouldn't be surprised if there was one lurking around in November or later for winter testing. Surely with the car already in driving form BMW has decided if they will create an entire new number class for it. And thankyou for your input on the forums in general, by the way! Keeps it exciting.
