As mentioned in another thread, I'm sad that the 403Ms look different than they did when the F30 was first announced. The originals were a single color, not two, and they had a polished face with softer edges, not a machined one with hard edges.

I have to say that I am not a big fan of some of these cosmetics.

I agree about the blue brakes. It is nice to have a painted caliper, but why not stick with black like the current M's?

Blue brakes will not look good on many other colors other than blue, and maybe white or silver.

Same reason why I do not like the yellow performance brakes. If they made them in black, I may have gotten them.

I thought the blue brakes were more reminiscent of the M brakes ... smooth flat cover on them so you dont see the piston bumps

Looks way better than the stock F30, the body from the rear to front bumper looks more full/complete. The F30 looks a bit too thin at the front (bumper).

The wheels have a nice design, but they are way too dark for my taste. Sure, it's not gunmetal or even black, but I definitely prefer lighter wheels.

All new Ms will have blue brakes, ala the new M5, so its just a continuation of the new scheme

Yeah, it's the same as in the F10.
I still prefer left thumb after many years of e92s / M3.

Are they dark??? I think it could just be the photos...the first looks dark, but then the up close shot looks like a standard alloy finish.

I don't recall it being mentioned in any of the press release documents (or photos for that matter) that the 19"s were painted???

I thought the 19"s were a standard alloy finish for the M Sport...am I wrong?

with all these parts and M this and M that, I really hope the real deal M3 still has some level of differentiation from the M sport 3 series. what will be left special for the character and stance and mean looks of the M3 if they give all the options to make the 3 series look like it?

Unfortunately no standard alloy finish. It just look brighter on the second pic due to the lighting conditions. So, the 18" are too small and the 19" too dark... great!

They had tons of performance part available for the E90 as well. The M3 was still very much it's own beast, with it's own character. I'm sure that will continue with the next M3. Usually, just the seats alone make you want an M3

The 19" style 403 in ferric grey look much nicer imo. I saw the 18" style 400 in Detroit on the blue 335i M Sport and they didn't impress me. Overall the new M Sport package looks really nice in person. It will look even better with a subtle drop and Performance parts. The new alcantara Performance bits are nice!

Cell phone shot from Detroit with 18" wheels for comparison.

That's a good question.

I agree with you. The 18" wheels ^^ don't look so good. The 19" wheels (below) look much better.

^^ Hmm... I'm liking this version of the M-Sport with some of the Performance/M Performance parts waaay too much...

That. Looks. Awesome.

But agreed with some of the comments about the 403M's looking a bit dark. I'm a fan of lighter wheels too.

The F30 has grown in size compared to the E90 (3.6" longer and 1.5 wider). From a distance the proportions of F30 and E90 are similar. After studying the design features more closely the F30, it doesn't look any bigger than its predecessor. In fact, the front and rear overhangs are a bit shorter which give the F30 a leaner more athletic stance. From side view the window frame and greenhouse will remind you of the E90. The double character lines running down the side add to the sportiness and elegance, and also give the car a sense of forward motion. The wider track coupled with the low slung front end and new headlight and taillight design give the F30 a more dominating and aggressive down the road view compared to the E90.

I have owned 2 E90s in the past and the F30 is a worthy successor. The new interior is a great place to spend seat time. I love the driver focused cockpit feeling. Overall the F30 looks more aerodynamic and modern while still keeping the traditional BMW 3er features in tact. The design language of the 5 and 1 Series, as well as the i8 concept all blend into this new 3er.

One nitpick though - I like the rear diffuser on the three 3 Series lines, but not as much on the M Sport package. I think the E90 M Sport rear end looked more aggressive with how the grey plastic/painted diffuser went higher up.
