Sorry for the late reply. I my case they replaced the air bag module and it seemed to fix the problem, but a couple weeks later it had the light go off again. The first time i took it in the error was displayed so they saw it. The other times i took pictures to show them. The last time i took it they wanted to replace the module again and i told them that was unacceptable. I was finally able to get them to buy back the car and i got a 2013 BMW. I had some minor issues on the 2013 but nothing like this.

Solution to this problem?
Hi Guys,
I recently had this same issue on my 2 week old f30 2 weeks ago. I took it into the dealership and after a day and a half of diagnostics they figured out that there were a couple of wires that were being pinched in the a-pillar and this was causing a short. They repaired the wires and the issue has vanished. The tech said that in assembly there was a clip or something that pinched the wires together and that he wouldn't be surprised if he sees this issue again. I'm not sure if it's what's causing everyone else's issue, but it's a possibility . |

I have had this error message pop up once a month. (2013 328i) Then my head unit (radio interface screen) was stuck in a reboot cycle and all it would do is keep resetting, whether it was on FM, Sat, or Bluetooth. So I finally took it to the dealer last week. They applied a software update that he said would resolve the issue.
The day after I picked it up I got the error again. Then the next day the head unit again got stuck in a reboot cycle I dropped it off this morning, so we will see what they say this time. I will follow up here. Very disconcerting. |

Update:
Still waiting on getting back my car...they are replacing the airbag module and do not want me driving the car without this being repaired due to liability. I let him know it might be the pinched wires in the A piller or a cracked weight sensor mat in the seat, information I got from ths thread, so we'll see. Will post an update once I get my car back. |

I had this same error fixed a few months back. Dealer said that it was a faulty wire harness. Funny because that's the same thing they said about my drivetrain malfunction that was causing car to go into limp mode. Anyway, I was just cruising along the other day, nothing in the passenger seat and my old friend the "passenger restraint malfunction" pops up again. Called the dealer who repaired it and the SA told me that his M3 does this all the time so he wouldn't worry about it. It doesn't bother me because it goes away on restart, but I want to make sure this is not a serious safety issue. |

I got the same issue here, can someone post an update?
my car is the end of 2012 328i, canada, got this issue in around 15000km, i did place the dashcam and place the wire inside A piller, and i also did coding my car. i got this issue when the car was warm up or idling for a period, i bring my car to dealer a few weeks ago and they just reprogrammed my car. and i did coding again, i have to because the LED flicker if i dont do this. the problem just appeared again today, no passenger beside me, car was warm up. it seems like every time the engine temperature goes after 70, this issue might appear. i m hoping to find a way to fix this problem, please post update, anyone?

Just started having this issue :/
Dealer claims to have fixed it in a matter of hours, so I'm skeptical, and almost just expecting it to persist after I pick it up later on. |

Hmmm, I got the red airbag dude of death today...hopefully service can squeeze me in tomorrow. Do they need to see the error or do I just need to describe it to them since this error is not stored in memory?
