Try LV, mine went down a bit this year to approx £530 for 335d F31 with remap, exhaust, ACS springs, M3 wheels and splitter. I used Confused to get the LV price and then Chris Knott matched it

They are more desirable than you might imagine. Some parts are anyway!
Lol, I'm glad all the old wives tales are still working, to keep all the undesirables out of our area!

I am 49, 12 years NCB, car in a locked and alarmed garage and live in West Midlands. Last year i paid £800, this year was £1300.

Changed to Aviva and now pay £760 on the new 435d. Try them.

Aviva quoted 1355. Still silly considering clean licence no claims. Live in guiseley which isnt a bad area.

Its even more if i remove the mrs.
Guiseley is popular for 2 in 1 burglaries unfortunately. Is the quote garaged, driveway or street parking? It sounds stupid but it's cheaper to insure NOT garaged. And it's always cheaper to have insured & spouse.
Also, if there's a small cul-de-sac within easy walking distance, get a quote for parking there overnight. It may make a bigger difference than you think. And you don't have to park there all the time, as the question on the proposal is "where is it USUALLY kept overnight".
It will be interesting to see how you get on. Good luck, as that quote is just stupid.

It nose dived for me when I declared I have kids. It dropped further when I added the Mrs to the policy (full time Mum) £700 to £450 on a 340i in SW London

Compare the market, then Aviva and Direct line. You will see if that price is out of sync with the others.

I went from a 1.2 litre engine to a 440i and my insurance increase was nowhere near that amount.

OP - I use Aviva, have a multi car policy with them for 2 cars at £550, which includes a slight increase for the MPPSK. Have 10 years no claims like yourself.
I'm paying £780 with LV for the 340i and MP kit declared, I too came from a 1.2 which was costing £320, I'm early 30's and wouldn't say I live in a particularly desirable area. I think it was pretty fair. OP is paying way too much.

So been ringing a lot of the companies I've used in the past.

Performance direct came out at 2k. All the avivas churchill etc nothig less than 1600!

I know car theft and jacking is on the rise but this is extortionate.

Will try some others above thanks

There are other tricks that are perfectly legal. Have a look at Martin Lewis’s www.moneysavingexpert.com for all ideas.
I changed how I describe my profession from “airline pilot” to “flight deck crew” and I saved £100. I then added the mother-in-law and saved another £35. As has been said, adding a lady often helps. Adding two in my case did even better. It’s just a computer model and you need to play with it a bit to see what can be done.
Play with the miles too. They often have bands different to the comparison sites so losing just 1000 mile can have a big effect. Same with excess. Also some load for garaging which seems odd.

Are you on the electoral role? I'm sure stuff like that makes a difference on these online quotes.

If I use a false name on price comparison sites the best quote I can get is £700 at my postcode for a 320d, using my real name I get just over £300.

OP, this worked for me -

Download the Aviva app, do the 200 miles, then ring them for a quote. If you get a decent score it WILL bring down your premium.

Another vote for LV. My policy also dropped this year, £20 off...
£420 for an unmodified F31 340i.
37 with my wife on it and living in a rural area.
Went with them as they were easy about winter wheels. Not seen the need to move as renewals are competitive.

Try confused I pay £268 protected no claims 15+ years put the wife on it (she never drives it too frightened lol) as this reduces it a bit, oh and by the way thats for my M3

My F31 320d is £600 but I've only got 1 years NCB as had to start again with the second car.
