Horribly rough downshifts. Thumps while stopped where transmission will slip out of gear then re-engage. Limp mode error.
Also, had A/C fan blower motor replaced (malfunction, burned out), headlight flickers due to faulty wiring, passenger airbag wiring went bad. One thing after another. Been in shop more than my driveway. 9k miles only. |

Get the new transmission, best option. Don't believe the car is rubbish because of your transmission problem, just get the job done asap.
It's a typical phenomenon that we believe that the entire car sucks big time for some isolated invasive problems, while it's not of course. You could have the best F30 ever after the swap. It's not you have these problems that your entire car will fall in pieces all of a sudden one of these days. Besides, the ZF transmission you have is probably the best designed transmission on this entire planet! |

Here's what I recommend. Meeting with Service Manager and shop foreman. Let them review your history. I assume the other issues you mentioned were already repaired and no longer an issue? If so, let them know you are well aware of the complexity involved in replacing a transmission. This is a job that should only be reserved for the most seasoned techs. However, some service departments get busy and they let less experienced techs do this type of work without supervision. Let them know you want the best tech on it and the shop foreman to check every step of the process.
If they follow through you should be fine. BTW, next week all US dealers are getting new software for the F30. Unlikely this will help your trans issues, but maybe its worth a try. Your dealer should get a change log along with the update.
