do you get insulted just because you are driving a bmw?
i was given at least 10 middle fingers since i bought my f30 ebII.
i drove to work as usual this morning, the traffic was slow, i was keeping at least a car-length between the car in front, not tailgating for sure. then this guy opened his window, gave me a middle finger and changed to the right lane. Even i'm not tailgating, ppls assume i am. whenever i change lanes safely, ppls think i am cutting them off, why?? these never happen when i drive my MDX. just curious if anyone here ever experience these kinda things on the road with their bmws. |

Nope. Never.
Only times I've been flipped off in my M6 was a couple times when some assholes tried to change lanes without looking and almost side-swiped me. I lay on my horn pretty hard when someone is about to hit me, and people here don't like that. Maybe next time they should watch where they are driving. |

Isn't that how people say hello in nyc?
I drive an 8 yr old 330i with 130,000 miles on it. Granted, it's well kept and looks better than a lot of cars that are only 2 yr old, but people around here look at me like I'm a millionaire. I had a collegue at a meeting the other day see me in the parking lot... he got out of a new chevy truck and he made a comment like I must make a ton more money that him... I told him his truck was probably 15 grand more than my car he looked at me like I was nuts. But mostly I get compliments and thumbs up if anyone pays any attention- but I look like a nice guy. If I wanted attention I would have got a bright red e46 M3

Nope, at least not yet. Everyone at work did let me know about that BMW study that was in the news a while back (the one that said blue BMW drivers were terrible basically). I don't even have a blue BMW! They were all trying trying to be funny

Don't have any problems here in Richmond BC as BMW, MB, Audi, Lexus, etc are the norm. In Vancouver, it is not uncommon to see Ferraris, Lambos, Aston Martin, Bentleys, etc. There seems to be lots of rich people living in this area. A BMW doesn't even rate.
When I get out in the interior, I get a few somewhat not nice looks from folks in pickups, old beater cars, etc. But Canadians are a pretty polite bunch by and large so I don't expect to get harassed because of the car I choose to drive and am able to (barely) afford. |

You think that's bad?
Try driving right at the speed limit on a one lane road..... ...see how much respect that'll get you while behind the wheel. Seems to be O.k. for any other car, but for some reason it necessitates tailgating when you're driving a BMW. Unfortunately, you just can't win.... |

Sometimes, but the one that I enjoy the most...
My boss, when finding out I got a Beemer... "must be nice". I said it is nice and I a) save money to buy it cash b) fortunate enough to have a wife that supports and encourages me to have fun c) be relatively young to have already raised my children into productive adults, no more having to support the free loafers Jealousy is a very ugly trait and he made his choices. So yes it is nice. Very nice indeed.

Nope!
Almost 20,000 miles on my EB M Sport. No fingers, no negative comments. I was shocked two days ago by a kid (20 something) in a late model Mustang that gave me a hearty "thumbs up" and told me my car was "raw!" |

Nice come back. You may as well have stabbed him in the eye with a fork. I hope he didn't throw a blood clot or something on his way home. Or maybe I hope he did. Envious people are very damaging to be around. Unhealthy for the mind. |

Agree that 1 car length IS pretty close if you are going any decent rate of speed.
Regarding some of this other chatter, i'm not thinkin I got a Ferrari or something, but lets face it, these are higher than average cars that really are not "necessary". People have their own reasons for spending extra on cars (like anything else). Mine is I am just a major car guy and needed a fun, attractive, automatic but sporty sedan (married now). That basically puts me right into this entry luxury category whether I wanted it or not. I have gone out of my way to NOT mention to people at work (especially my direct boss and those who are very high up the ladder) that I got a BMW. I am very excited to get it and I always wanna talk about it, but not so much about the label. I just feel like people think too much into it. |

Nope, no one cares - no good or bad hand signals. It's a conservative four-door sedan.
Occasionally someone waves at me when I am driving my Z06. This is rare however (outside of other Corvette drivers who almost always wave.) Most common acknowledgements are when I am on one of the Ducati Superbikes. These can elicit a hardy wave. |
