Interesting. I've been thinking of going to the M track day in Monticello, NY. Unfortunately I can't free up my schedule when it's available

I had a blast too, here in LA. Autocrossed both the M3 & M4 & test drove the M2 & a range of other BMWs. Definitely props to BMW for putting together a fantastic event. We even had appetizers & a full blown private chef dinner

That is pure fun. Missed that driving event at the Meadowlands during the week of the NY Car show (had to work). Will try and make it when they return back up North at Citifield. I think that will be in October. Every BMW driver should make the effort to attend one of these of it is in your area. Makes you really appreciate what these cars can do.

It's free unless you auto cross an m car then it's around $700 bucks. Got to drive a 650i and x6 on the street. The L.A. event is still going on if you're in the area through Memorial Day weekend. You can just show up for the test drives but need to register for a slot for the auto cross but lots of folks register and don't show up so you can get their slot. I was able to move to an earlier slot because of this. The test drives are on your own with no rep sitting with you. You can open it up more than you would at a dealer test drive and no pushy sales people. You also get a free souvenir!

I attended this last year, the M Car Control clinic. Was a full-day event in M3/M4/M235 through a round-robin of stations (emergency brake, slalom, lane change, figure-8 drift with rear slicks, all ending in a team event around a small autocross circuit).
It was a good time, but not as performance oriented as I'd hoped. I attended to try and help my purchase decision, at the time I had an order for the M2, but feared it was an overpriced M235 or slack compared to M3. The M235 was hands down the most fun of the bunch, but too soft, the M3/M4 were just too big for what I was looking for. M2 was certain to be goldilocks choice...confirmed. |

Finished the auto-x one this morning in L.A. Was cool. Only a few laps, but a good experience.
Not Thermal cool as I got to do that all day event for free last year upon buying my BMW (shout out to BMW of Monrovia!) |

They had a good range of models to choose from, they have the i3, the X6 and 650i coupe and grand coupe, M240i, M340i xdrive MPPSK, 540i and 530i hybrid (forgot what it's called). Also had a 7 series hybrid which has the B58 paired with hybrid drive train. No i8 or V12 Excellence to drive, just on display but you can get into the car and blast the stereo. So a good mix of models to choose from. Some folks were running the cars pretty fast so you could hear the exhaust and see them take off lol...They set the GPS to take you around the area I would say it's maybe a couple of miles drive and takes you back to the parking lot at santa anita. You'll have fun, totally worth an evening with or without your friends. If you don't get to drive all the cars one day you can come back the next, it ends after this weekend.

You should go for the test drives on the street, that might be as awesome as Thermal.
