My wife and I both drive the car so we have different seat settings (stored in 1 and 2). As I understand it, the car sets the seat back to whatever the previous positions was for the key used after the car has been locked, not to the stored positions in 1 and 2. Anyway, here's what's happening to me - I get into the car after my wife has driven it and the seat starts moving to my last position, but it does so by going all the way forward before it goes backward to my correct position. Remember the scene in Goldfinger where the guy gets crushed in the car? I've had to turn sideways to keep from having my legs broken before the seat starts going backward again. Does this happen to anyone else?
