What a Difference Camouflage Makes - 435i Sport Line Coupes Compared
BIMMERPOST NEWS What a Difference Camouflage Makes - 435i Sport Line Coupes Compared We noticed an interesting phenomenon with the latest set of 4 Series spy photos - how negative the reaction was compared to the very positive reaction to an earlier set of spy photos featuring the same production-spec model (a 435i Sport Line). The only difference between these cars? The camouflage, the color, and the setting/lighting. Goes to show that camouflage really can have a profound effect in how a car looks and is perceived by a viewer. As you can see in the comparison photos below, the remaining camouflage pieces strategically cover some of the most important styling lines and design elements on the car - connecting headlights, curves in front bumper, side character line, air breather vents, hoffmeister kink, rear tail lights and rear bumper character line. In the photos, it's clear that the grey model is more attractive, and all just owing to some piece of tape and a different color. Have a look at the vastly (amusing and) differing reactions to the two sets of photos: Silver F32: http://www.f30post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=847440 Grey F32: http://www.f30post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=818697 What will the reaction be to the final product when polished official photos are published? We won't have to wait too long to see... |

Thanks for the visual comparison.
You can definitely see the big difference when those lines are covered up. Silver also isn't the most flattering color and taken during the daytime so there's no reflective quality at all. But the grey 435i looks brilliant!

Totally agree with you, hiding certain parts really changes the overall impression of the car! Though, I think the M-sport will look better, but this is a matter of taste. Can't wait for the official release...

I wonder how the guys who were very vocal about their disgust for the camouflaged car are going to feel about this.
Lol

In my opinion the car still does not differentiate itself enough from the sedan variant to have its on 4 Series designation. With that being said, it is nevertheless a beautiful car and I will definitely trade my E92 for a F32 in the future. However, this time around I am hoping opt for an M3 instead of the 335i.

A car with tape on it looks the same as another without?
Clear difference in visual appeal between the two. I think a darker color might be better for this car though because it'll show off those lines that are still covered up more and make the car look smaller too. |

I like everything except for the front lower bumper, needs massive improvement.

People realized how ugly the front bumper was. Very busy and frankly quite ugly (the new X5 included)
p.s. Yes, Jason, different light and settings can make a difference. |

It's a shame they put that boomerang in the side of the car, and didn't make it look "integrated" like on the 2014 X5. I think that's the only flaw.

This comparison really does the car justice, the silver does not work with those rims I can't wait to see the M body kit but I believe this model is better than the e92 sports line in looks, hopefully it is also lighter. We all have to remember these are just pictures it's hard to get a good feel for a car just by looking at photos

Yeah the "mouth" on the front end really kills it. The lighter color makes it more pronounced too. This car will be a real looker with MSport and maybe after LCI.

You'd look very different too if I glued black and white swirly tape to bits of your body. LOL
You didn't think BMW do that just to be cagey, did you? LOL
