Power rear sunshade
So silly question, but did a quick Google search and couldn't find any definitive answers.
Do the new MY2013 F30s come with power rear sunshade standard? In the build configuration, I only see Rear manual side window sunshades for $575, but then in the description it says power rear sunshades available on vehicles produced as of Jan 2012. Does this mean if you choose the rear manual side window shades you'll then also get power rear, or is power rear standard? |

The power rear sunshade is not standard on any F30 model.
Just the rear sunshade is option code 415, and comes included with option 417 (Rear Manual side window shades) for $575. |

They all come in as a package; the manual rear door shades (for both parts of the widow), and the power rear window shade.
The Jan 2012 notice was for a manufacturing error where the rear power shade was not being installed when the shade package was ordered. |

It's not a showoff piece if you have two small kids riding in the back. One facing front, one facing rear... rear and side sunshades are a rather useful feature.

575$ isn't a bad price, actually. In Europe, you can get it separately but it's a 450$ option + 330$ just for the manual side ones . The side sunshades only come in handy if you have passengers in the back, but the rear sunshade is quite nice to have, if you drive in a country where the sun constantly shines

It's very necessary if you have a rear facing car seat. I tried the suction cup version on my MB, falls off, worthless.
Rarely I also wish I had them when driving on the highway with the sun setting behind me. |

Yeah I meant it's a show piece for me, not overall. I rarely drive with more than me and my wife in the car, and I would have gotten a Coupe but don't really like the E90 ones and the new 4 series is so far off.

Good for my doggie when traveling in the summer.

I think mine has been used exactly 3 times, one of which was the salesman demonstrating how it works. It's fancy, just don't find many uses for it and forget I even have it. At least it's really well hidden.

Rear power sunshade can't be used when you cruising along with window down, it will keep flapping/hitting the windscreen even at very low speed... The rental car that I drove in Germany came with the power rear, drove there during the summer months, so wind up the shade, and tot country side weather is cooling so wind down the window... couldn't stand the noise for more than 5 minutes

Personally, I love the power rear sunshade and the manual shades on the side (wish those were power too). I don't particularly care for tinted windows but like the reduced glare when occasionally needed. I travel West in the morning and East in the evening and the optional rear shade comes in very handy. Also, when the car is parked in sunny spaces (not often), it helps keep the heat down a bit. If available, I'd always equip my cars with this option.
