got a new seat! yay!!! FOR FREE!!!

im proud to report to you that I got a new seat..

I have 2012 f30 with regular Dakota leather, the stitching on the side cracked where the leather is attached. I was a bit surprised, maybe my but is too big for bimmer. im only 220 lbs. omg.. But its whatever, I got a new seat and it looks primo. Well except the giant scratch on the opposite panel.

Dude at the dealer said this was a common thing, no questions asked.

A "common" thing? That doesn't say very much about the quality of the leather and how it will hold up over time... Oh BMW... seats aren't a place they should be cost-cutting.

Based on the exceedingly few posts regarding this issue (this one and one other that I've seen, which was a leatherette issue) it's not a common thing.

Are you telling me we shouldn't trust what people at dealerships tell us?

Another person with leather issues? Not surprised from a BMW.

Glad you got yours resolved. Did they scratch up your interior badly? I am skeptical of anyone taking the seats out for repair but I am hopeful yours went well.

I had the same thing happen to me, a small crack on the leather and the seat was replaced.... it wasn't torn at all but the SA told me that before it rips they would just replace the seat.

Did they give you a new seat or just change the seat cover?
